  1. Ornette is a nice man. For that alone I would wish him a happy birthday!
  2. Insightful as always.
  3. Seemed like a pretty shitty attempt to me, verging on trolling. Guess I should reread the liners... don't remember seeing this but it would be incredible to hear!
  4. I dunno, Jeff's tastes are pretty respectable so far. His BFT was really swell.
  5. Francois Tusques' "Free Jazz" on Mouloudji...
  6. Damn. What an unfortunate turn of events. RIP.
  7. Exactly, almost impossible. Clear vinyl is extremely annoying in that regard. Luckily the few I have are at least EX.
  8. Cute lookin' couple!
  9. I used to have this, but the pressing was defective (blemished vinyl on a sealed copy). Wouldn't mind having a clean one...
  10. Taj Mahal Travellers - August 1974 - (Columbia/P-Vine) I still think this band has a strong "you had to be there" vibe, but that probably goes for a lot of communal psychedelia...
  11. Oh my. Thanks for sharing!
  12. I'm going out of town for the weekend. Moby Grape? Really? I don't know how that can be worthwhile at this stage.
  13. There is a place in Austin - can't remember which - that serves "beer mary's" or beer and bloody mary mix (they don't have a liquor license). I recall it not being too bad.
  14. You can send the sleeve to me, but only if we become facebook friends.
  15. ZYX did a CD of it in the 1990s. Solid LP; I wish there had been more commercially released by that group.
  16. Shellac - 1000 HZ - (Touch & Go)
  17. Indeed it is. I think my main "deal" with Ware's previous group was/is Shipp, whom I'm not all that into. If he and Cooper-Moore hadn't fallen out, maybe a different quartet would have emerged in the 1980s/early 1990s.
  18. "Process Music" always explained what Reich, Glass and (to a lesser degree) Riley were doing. Riley was the only one to include improvisation in that process (coming-to-awareness of additive and entropic shifts).
  19. New solo disc on AUM is good. Sometimes I found the "classic" quartet a little too "easy" and feel like he has been better in other settings. Those young & hungry dates with J-C Capon, Beaver Harris, and Apogee are excellent. (not to mention Cyrille, Cecil...)
