  1. Used to play the shit out of that 2.13.61 Monks CD compilation. Great stuff.
  2. Cool. Payment sent also.
  3. My mom was thirteen and I was already on to Robert Coover somehow.
  4. Interesting choices... I still have the Kuhn, but no more Scratch Acid in my collection alas.
  5. That's Bill for you. ep1: The JCG article will be published next year in Jazz Perspectives (journal). It's by Ben Piekut. I haven't read it, but Andrew Raffo Dewar (Dixon scholar/student) has. Part of Dewar's thesis on Bill Dixon will be in J.P. as well. No book yet. Thanks for your thoughts.
  6. I agree re Lennon's playing with Plastic Ono Band. It's pretty woolly and primitive, and the recording quality brings out a nice, tinny quality (perhaps using cheap guitar/amp as well). But I don't know about the rest of the catalog, have pretty much unequivocally avoided it because I find them mostly boring.
  7. French 45 PS from the New Grass sessions, IIRC. Milford said he and Ayler played duos a fair amount. None were recorded to my knowledge.
  8. Japanese Mal Waldron LPs are my latest jag.
  9. I'd like to note the long-awaited (at least by me) Bill Dixon article is now up at AAJ. There will be forthcoming an image gallery of his paintings, lithographs, etc., up at AAJ next week as well as a series of excerpts from his manuscript "Vade Mecum". Enjoy, and looking forward to your thoughts.
  10. I think my local used CD joint has it, too. I keep forgetting to go by there.
  11. I dunno about you, but to me it seems like it's usually other drummers who do that.
  12. Glittering silver vinyl or black?
  13. Though def. more on the free side, that John Blum recording he's on (w/ Antonio Grippi & Wm Parker) is a monster. Astrogeny, on Eremite.
  14. I really wish I'd gotten to talk to Charles Tyler before he died. That's what I get for being a young'un.
  15. I agree, it's the reason to own that record.
  16. Got mine in New York, about 10 years ago... bet Jack had it cheaper!
  17. Bill Dixon, born 1925 and still active. John Carter, born 1928; Prince Lasha, born 1929 - both deceased.
  18. Well, for one thing, if it's that important why are you not using your real name here? Have you sent anything to Larry, John Litweiler, etc.?
  19. Anyone remember "Lee Mograb's Sidewinder" ? Or was that on the old BNBB?
  20. Yeah, wonder if this is the tip of the iceberg. I emailed them about the Hill and got the response they're still planning to repress it this fall.
  21. Beat me to it! Amazon marketplace here I come...
  22. Yeah, the Pacific Jazz is now gone & Amazon sellers have 'em at crazed prices unless they're "used."
  23. Ah yes, also an AEC reference!
