  1. Ronnie Scotts in either late 1982 or early 1983 (more likely 83). The lineup also included Cameron Brown and a dapper looking Dannie Richmond. It was around the time that that LP ‘Don’t Lose Control’ came out.
  2. One I need to get. Is Spithead back to normal after yesterday’s big event John? Probably not I guess although the focus has shifted.
  3. An original would be Liberty blue/white labels.
  4. Kenton is standing approximately at the point on stage that I collected my degree certificate.
  5. I’ve still got a copy of that Italian ‘Jazz Live’ bootleg LP. The first copy of the studio recordings I have was on that 1972 Capitol LP as well.
  6. Ronnie Scott. There is a good photo of him playing chess with Diz in the back office at Ronnie Scotts Club.
  7. Got that one on the Mosaic Single. Another one to dig out !
  8. Emmanuel Riggins, Ronnie Ware, Greg Williams, Gerald Izzard?
  9. Will dig the Mosaic vinyl set of this one out over the weekend.
  10. Yes, it’s the Prestige 24000 series twofer. US version.
  11. Sad comedown from the old days of yore when they had the likes of the Tony Williams Quintet on the freestage .
  12. Those Spotlites were fairly ubiquitous over here during that period (well, so much as that term can be applied to jazz LPs) and are still to be found. My favourite is probably the Howard McGhee ‘Trumpet at Tempo’. ‘Bird in Sweden’ was the first one I bought.
  13. Japanese Victor. Great sonics, fantastic session. Xanadu
  14. One of the more unlikely Sam Rivers sessions - but he fits in brilliantly. Same with that successor release on Novus too. I’ll dig both of these out later on. I give it at least 4 thumbs ! As good as any Blue Note of the period IMO. That Felix Krull guy was damned good.
  15. Contemporary Yellow label DG mono UK Parlophone mono. Trounces the (very good) Vocalion CD. Same here.
