Ronnie Scotts in either late 1982 or early 1983 (more likely 83). The lineup also included Cameron Brown and a dapper looking Dannie Richmond. It was around the time that that LP ‘Don’t Lose Control’ came out.
Those Spotlites were fairly ubiquitous over here during that period (well, so much as that term can be applied to jazz LPs) and are still to be found. My favourite is probably the Howard McGhee ‘Trumpet at Tempo’. ‘Bird in Sweden’ was the first one I bought.
One of the more unlikely Sam Rivers sessions - but he fits in brilliantly. Same with that successor release on Novus too. I’ll dig both of these out later on.
I give it at least 4 thumbs ! As good as any Blue Note of the period IMO. That Felix Krull guy was damned good.
