  1. I use Music Matters 45rpms as part of my daily workout.. BillF’s old copy
  2. Classic 1936-47 Count Basie/Lester Young Studio set - CD1
  3. Interesting, informative obit for Phil Miller in today’s UK Times paper.
  4. Yes, I have a copy of that one too - and I have a feeling mine is also a promo. Maybe promos of that one are more common than non-promo?
  5. ‘The Death Of Stalin’. Definitely worth catching - and although very comedic also very sobering.. No surprise that the Russian authorities hate it !
  6. Mingus Moves ! Picked up the Honi Gordon at that big Fantasy liquidation sale. It’s a good one.
  7. Belated best wishes !
  8. John/Alice Coltrane ‘Cosmic Music’ (Coltrane Records orig.)
  9. Yes, noticed that. I’m tempted but it would be a bit of a trek and a half. I have the feeling it will be a great gig. These ashram recordings hold up incredibly well. No wonder the cassettes were so sought after. Totally off my radar at the time though. I remember being in LA back in 1989 I think and seeing a flier on a lamp-post for an Alice Coltrane concert in tribute to John. Must have been that annual memorial concert I guess - sadly, had flown back from my trip by the time it was held. Remember being surprised at the time to see that she was still doing public gigs.
  10. Happy Birthday Guy !
  11. Yes, that was the first place I looked.
  12. Dusty Groove have a Rearward reissue LP/CD of ‘Out of the Folk Bag’ showing as intended release ‘around Nov 1 2017’, yet Rearward are not listing it. Ironic, as I have just got hold of the 2003 LP German reissue of this one. Anyone know the label/origin of the Studio 2 reissue?
  13. Just picked up a copy of this one but I agree it is brilliant. Much better sonics than expected, Alice’s voice is stunning and the otherworldly sounds of the Oberheim a big plus. Agree also that the booklet is very well done. Great issue !
  14. Back page of this month’s Jazz Journal?
  15. The British Wing issues tend to be cheapo version of Fontanas. Probably for sale in Woolworths along with MFPs back in the day !
  16. Thanks for that - I have some of this material on compilation and it is damn good. Certainly more cost effective than the previous German issue Doldinger set.
