  1. That place is nuts !
  2. Those Jazz Alley dates look very interesting. Henry Franklin on bass as well - wow.
  3. We need a Mole Jazz tribute site to round it off !
  4. I'm a hopelessly optimistic ex-Edmontonian.... No probs !
  5. I've still got a few bought at the Lakeshore Boulevard West store. ECMs ! Q - Where do old ECM LPs go to die? A - Canada. I'm buying more CDs than vinyl these days. Not very often I come across anything on vinyl that is reasonably priced and not trashed, to be honest.
  6. Damn it John - you got my preference ! Edmonton 70 please !
  7. And maybe some geese as guard-dogs !
  8. Great sound as would be expected - and no doubt better than the Prestige.
  9. MJQ 'Under The Jasmin Tree' (Australian World Record Club, stereo) Lalo Schifrin 'Sade' (ditto)
  10. I think I have much of this one on 1980s Japanese vinyl - will have to check.
  11. Woods/Byrd 'The Young Bloods' (Esquire). Great rhythm section of Al Haig, Teddy Kotick and Charlie Persip on this one, something for a 'comeback' for Haig back at the time of issue.
  12. The 2CD set is certainly addictive, that's for sure. One thing that comes across strongly is just how good the performances of both Kate and Mike are on this one, even by their own usual high standards. Thanks for the fast turnaround with the mailouts Chris !
  13. It's when you see threads like this one that you realise the Mosaic Select series will be really missed after they all finally sell out..
  14. Steve Lacy Lacey Gibson Le Son 'Y Ra
  15. No problem with space for CDs and LPs. Congrats !
  16. NY USA mono, ear. Liberty, stereo Uncanny !
  17. Anyone else got their copy of 'A Bigger Show' 2CD set yet? Fine stuff - and very nicely captured in live sound by Jon Hiseman and Miles Ashton. In fact I would go as far as to say that this is my favourite Westbrook recording of recent years. One of my albums of the year, for sure ! I hope to capture their performance coming up in Taunton early next year (postponed from this year) and with a bit of luck I'll catch the Barnfield Xmas show.
  18. Bought that on on LP when it first came out - will have to dig it out. A very good seller as I recall at the time - at least for a jazz LP on India Navigation !
  19. Happy BIrthday !
  20. Not often that you would find an original Blue Note at £1 at Mole Jazz but that's what that one cost me. Pretty well the dustiest couple of records I ever bought though, sneezed for a week afterwards..
  21. Just trying to recall the lineup for the 'Hand in Hand' gig - Steve Nelson on vibes, Wallace Roney on trumpet. Don't think there was a sax on that gig and can't recall who was on bass and drums (might have been Lewis Nash on the latter). Part of a Western Canada/US tour. Fortunate to have seen a fair number of gigs with Mulgrew - as part of bands led by Woody Shaw, Tony Williams and Blakey - as well as with 'Wingspan'. He is truly missed !
  22. Fond memories of seeing his 'Hand In Hand' band in 1992. All of the Novus releases are worth picking up. Never thought of an Earl Hines connection but come to think of it, I sort of hear it !
