  1. Big John Patton/Grachan Moncur III 'Soul Connection' (Nilva)
  2. Wonder if it's some additional live material? Count me in as a Miles fan of those years - fond memories of catching the concerts during that period and as Ubu says, the likes of 'Tutu' and 'Amandla' are not to be sniffed at. I will be interested in getting hold of this one.
  3. Same here. Cost me about £8 as well.
  4. Not to forget that Esquire did some of those early Prestiges as 10" pressings as well.
  5. Happy Birthday to Mr Sanders. Agree that he's always a great pleasure to see live (sadly, have not caught him for many years now).
  6. All The Best !
  7. Rockin' Robin Robin Boy Blunder
  8. 26 here. No bow ties or bl**dy 'Question Time' either !
  9. Ian Carr/Jeff Clyne 'Spingboard' (Polydor) Gordon Beck 'Gyroscope' (Morgan, stereo) Bob Downes 'Open Music' (Philips, stereo)
  10. Billy Bottle Mike Westbrook Kate Westbrook
  11. Fats Sadi 'Ensadinado' (Saba, stereo) Sounds magnificent after a bath in L'art du son !
  12. Laubrock, Rainey and Liam Noble worked well as a group when I saw them at Birmingham Conservatoire some years ago.
  13. Tony Williams Lifetime 'Ego' (UK Polydor)
  14. First clean with my new bottle of L'art du son. Immediate sonic benefits with 2 washes per side.
  15. Caught him at The Barbican in the Strata-East show a while back. He was predictably good !
  16. RIP
  17. Yeah, makes an interesting contrast after the McLean/Moncur. Wonder what became of Peter Shade?
  18. 6d worth of chips plus some 'scraps' !
  19. Don Rendell 'Space Walk' (UK Columbia, stereo)
  20. Just ordered a new bottle - my last lot in the fridge is well past its use by date. Works well with the VPI 16.5 and as mentioned, quite good value.
  21. Just checking against my NY USA stereo 'ear' copy. Also a very pleasant listening experience. For 'character' and bite it has the edge I think but for sonic level of detail the MM wins. Either way, both are great. Thinking about it - I have this one on Conn and Mosaic Select CDs, a Pathe Marconi LP, King LP, NY USA and Music Matters. Dammitt - I need a Liberty..
  22. Failing that, the King pressing of 'Destination Out!' is pretty nice.. Just out of curiosity I've popped my copy of the Music Matters on deck. Spinning Moncur's 'Love and Hate' the first thing that comes across is the incredible sonic detail of Roy Haynes' tom toms and brushes. Can't recall the original LP ever capturing that in such fidelity but I'll check against the NY USA for further impressions. Can't go wrong with the MM - although the frequent disk turning may well be a negative !
  23. Lionel Hampton 37-41 Victor set, CDs 1 and 2.
  24. Pick up the Music Matters 2x45rpm in glorious stereo ! Grant Green 'Live At The Lighthouse' (BN UA blue/white label 2LP). Thinish vinyl but excellent sonics, capturing well the Lighthouse atmosphere. Horace Silver 'The Stylings of Silver' (BN NY USA DG both sides, ear)
  25. Isn't that one of the LPs that Paul Buckmaster spun for Miles before the 'On The Corner' sessions?
