Caught her quite a lot at gigs over here in the early 2000s, in particularly those with the London-based F-IRE Collective. In addition to excellent tenor and soprano, she can sing as well. Have been digging that early 'Forensic' CD again this week - thoufthfull and varied programme of music.

Looks like an in-store visit to HMV Tokyo will be on the agenda - in between the Disk Unions !

A number of Lansdownes of that vintage came out on that imprint. 'Cosmic Eye', Arman Ratip 'Spy From Istambul', Neil Ardley etc.

I've got a copy of the Danish Debut as well. Time for a spin ! Clunky - did you see Alan's recent 'Special' list and pick up anything from it? That's a great deal on an elusive recording - at least it is over here in its original form. Wasn't that the one that came out on Regal Zonophone? Never actually seen one 'in the raw'.

That 'Vogue Jazz Doubles' series was a a good one. Have quite a few of them. They also came out with a great 3LP 'Complete Paris Collection' by Clifford Brown.

It may well be typical these days. Last time I was at the club was over 10 years ago now and it was before they did the refurbishments, so still the 'original' place, so to speak. It's gone up-market these days and I'm sure that the food will be better. The David Redfern prints (or many of them) are still up on the walls I believe and it would be worth a perusal while you are there. Some real classics... have a great trip.

Of course ! 'Boom-Jackie' is on the top of my list for the forthcoming Disk Union exped. Maybe they will have a vinyl in stock? - hope so.

This looks different from the recent crowd funded documentary. With the 93 min. of concert footage I will get this when the price is right. At the '80th' concert in London last year they were filming the proceedings - for use in a new documentary I think (although I was under the impression it might be a BBC4 thing). They had a showing of the 'Language of the Unknown' before the performance.

7.30 pm start at Ronnies these days? In the past shows at only ever got going around 9-9.30 and the last show (of 4 sets, 2 each band) went on well past midnight. In fact if you wanted a beer for the last show you had to purchase a sandwich (or as a minimum option - a 'biscuit') before they would serve you with it. Good old West-End licensing laws. I used to quite like sitting on the RHS by the wall as there was that great David Redfern print of Miles in his denim suit looming down up there. Failing that, right up front by the mike was always a good spot (in the lucky eventuality that you got placed there - which I did for Bill Evans' last appearance at the club). Not sure how this equates to the new layout these days though.

Don't worry - the pressure relief valve is already blown and I am resigned to emptying all pockets. 'Advance intell' from the guys in Tokyo has already seen to that.. I'll definitely consider a copy of the Zeitlin on CD to go with the Mosaic Select.
