Sad to report the recent death of pianist, jazz/musical pundit , jingle tune-smith and UK TV and radio personality Steve Race at age 88. Best known to the UK jazz fraternity for hosting of the first series of 'Jazz 625' on BBC2 back in 1964. A heart attack the following year slowed him down but he was a frequent figure on TV and radio in subsequent years. He even got to set the daily crossword in the 'Daily Telegraph' in recent years. Sorry to see him go - RIP and a good friend of British jazz.
