  1. Didn't realise she'd recorded and toured with Bjork !
  2. Rudi Giuliani Jerry Dammers Herman Blount
  3. Art Farmer/Donald Byrd 'Two Trumpets' (Prestige Bergenfield DG mono, 50th St sleeve). Great sound !
  4. Just listening to Nick Evans this morning on the 'You are Here...I am There' vinyl reissue. A good performance from him on that session, back in his early 20s - which I think is under-rated in the Tippett discography.
  5. Keith Tippett Group - 'You Are Here...I Am There' (Akarma 180g)
  6. Shorty Rogers Atlantic/EMI Recordings - working through the CD set.
  7. Anton LaVey Laverne Baker Chesney Baker
  8. Sad news - RIP . Always liked Buddy's PJ work. Just happen to have come across one of his recent CDs in the rack a few days ago. On sale, should have bought it.
  9. Gordon Gordon Ottershore Barnstoneworth
  10. Mal Waldron 'Sweet Love, Bitter' OST (Impulse, mono) Pat Martino 'Live' (Muse)
  11. Much as I like cats, they have me sneezing my head off and eyes watering like crazy so I could never have one. Instead, saying hello occasionally to the neighbours' cat works for me. The thought of a cat running amok with claws out over my vinyl and sitting on the felt mat of the LP12 looking innocent thinking it was a cat litter would bring me out into a cold sweat.
  12. Dave Tough Chewy Throbbing Gristle Genesis P Orridge Elvin Jones Keiko
  13. Yeah - I remember reading that too. Didn't he also feature the 'Jackie McLean Pizza Company' on one episode of the Simpsons, or is that an urban myth?
  14. That would have been the old CTS Studios in Wembley, I guess? Some great jazz recorded there, over the years. Sad news.
  15. Happy birthday Rodney. Hope all's well.
  16. Amazon UK seem to have the 6CD set at £38 with a 'to be released' date of 15th May I think.
  17. Tony Williams Quintet - 'Angel Heart' (Blue Note DMM)
  18. I've got one or two LPs with 'Thames TV Library' stamped on the back, including a McLaughlin 'Extrapolation' on Marmalade. Echoes of the 1970s.. For anyone at ITV, I don't have these. Could be the General's old copy
  19. Stuff Smith (although I can live with the deprivation).
  20. 'Xanadu at Montreux - Vol 4' (Xanadu)
  21. Probably DMM distortion - typical of that era. I'll dig the LP out and see if I can notice it.
  22. Like one chap called 'Schmidt' whose Blue Note LPs pop up on occasion over here, especially London. Not too intrusive though, usually quite neat.
  23. Always thought that the vocals on 'Lift Every Voice' could have used a bit more rehearsal to tighten up the sound a bit. Outstanding though for Woody Shaw's contribution. A similar issue of lack of rehearsal also affects 'Passing Ships' but again, the originality of the music triumphs nevertheless IMO.
  24. Somebody did well with the John Wright LP. Wish I'd known about that one ! Very reasonable prices, Dan. Nice to see that on ebay.
  25. That you need to pack your bags and head off on your hol to the UK !
