  1. Ah, right - I know roughly where that is.
  2. The Holland Quintet is in particularly good and 'tight' form at the moment (based on what I saw from their recent concert in Bath) so no doubt the Middelburg concert was great.
  3. Why is it all the good stuff is available in London whenever I haven't visited in a while. As soon as I head in, they'll sell out. Thanks for the info - Any other of the Kahn books in this sale? (e.g. the Kind of Blue).
  4. I would definitely say that it is worth extending the usual fiscal parameters to get this one. A gem ! Don't tell me about it.. I feel you there. I lucked out big time with my copy price-wise but have more than made up for it since! That ones's pretty crazy - Gary Windo etc. Hevn't dug it out for years !
  5. All the best for the b-day Mr Durium !
  6. Nice one - I saw that too. I managed to snag the Joe Harriott 'Free Form' Interdisk. Pretty pleased about that.
  7. Don't tell me about it..
  8. Dick Grove Orchestra - 'Little Bird Suite' (Pacific Jazz, stereo)
  9. Interesting. Where is it, exactly?
  10. "A tactile picture of a woman dressed as a pink elephant"
  11. Yeah, I just got this CD list too. 'That Iska' jumped off the page when I read it - fair price for this one.
  12. The 'Golden Eight' is reputedly one of the rarest of the NY USA Blue Notes. Suprising that it never goes for more bucks ! I guess the Evans Verve was only $120 as it was missing the rust.
  13. Norman Lamont Ed Balls Mr Ed
  14. Joe Pass, CD4 Perfect music for a hot Summer Sunday afternoon.
  15. Diane Abbott (his sidekick) Elvis Costello Diana Krall
  16. I was lucky enough to pick this one up a couple of months ago. It's a little-known masterpiece, in my opinion. Yep, I've got a Pacific Jazz mono copy of this one. Really like it - obviously influenced by the Miles/Gil albums but with a unique West Coast feel to it. The Al Haig 'Will O' The Wisp' according to my records (ie. the Charles Fox/Max Harrison book, who rated it one of the 'Essential Modern Jazz Records 1945-70) was issued by Counterpoint in the US, I'm not sure re: Esoteric (probably very likely that this was the first issue if so). I have a UK LP issue whuch was on Xtra, one of the labels run by Transatlantic which put out Prestige material in the 1960s.
  17. I would potentially be interested in a trade on the Mildred - or sorting something out from the current catalogue. Please PM to advise on particular sets that you are seeking.
  18. One of the things I particularly like about the Jones/Lewis Set is the booklet. The essay puts the formation of the band, their rehearsals with Manny Albam etc. and the scores into context. Some great band photos in that one too. Essential !
  19. That one is fantastic. Saw it once broadcast on TV - some wonderful playing by Ben on there and a great insight into his 'Euro' years.
  20. Back to more regular service 'Shelly Manne & His Men at the Manne Hole' (Contemporary/Vogue DG mono, 2LP) I have a Contemporary stereo copy but couldn't resist this mono deep groove.
  21. B Bumble and the Bees B B King Eric The Half A Bee
  22. Shakatak 'Night Birds' (Polydor) :blush2:
