I've never seen one of those. I have one or two Riv/Jzlds like that. But I always thought BN used a completely different manufacturer to the other jazz companies. MG I've seen plenty of them. Early Liberty-era pressings of the 'NY' era often have the ridged rim. Seen them on Riversides too.

Yep - a magnificent performance, Shorter and Williams in particular. They sound like they have been let off the leash after months of confinement.

I'll look forward to this show and dig out my Tempo Feldman reissues. Definitely one of the greatest players ever produced over here !

My favourites are those 'Stan Tracey Big Brass' albums recorded for Lansdowne. This man can REALLY write for big bands !

First port of call - the 'Complete Concert Band' ( ) Mosaic with all of the Norgran/Verve/Clef material. A gem ! I wonder if Rhapsody Films have plans to release that 'Talmage Farlow' documentary on DVD? Must be due for a reissue - I'd buy that one in a flash.

Great dark atmospheric sound that Columbia Lansdowne Studio captured on this session (was it Adrian Kerridge who was the recording engineer?) I've heard that Stan was always suprised at the plaudits that this recording got (unusually, it was recognised as a classic over here at time of release) but it deserves its reputation IMO. The other Tracey LPs from this vintage ('With Love From Jazz' etc) are also great.

On the Sony, yes. I have the TV speakers set to off and run the audio through my stereo. I would assume the other makes are similar in this regard. I run the TV audio through the hi-fi. Damned awesome - especially if you are viewing things like 'Miles Electric'.

Hmmm - I sense a business opportunity here..

wasn't it up on the other site some seem to think one is not allowed to name here? or was that audio only? I think I have at least one 1967 DVD from there, but I'm at work and can't check right now... Yep - I think I might already have both of them from this source. I suspect that the sound is better on this version though and it's nice to have them both neatly collated on one DVD. Tony Williams is very well captured !

Heck, just checked my own copy of that one - and it's not much worse !

Another vote for the Jazz Crusaders box. That's the only one of these I have, therefore the only one I can recommend at this time !
