  1. Lee Morgan 'Caramba' (BN Liberty stereo). Kicks ass !
  2. Wayne Shorter 'Odyssey of Iska' (BN Liberty stereo)
  3. Bobby Hutcherson 'Inner Glow' (King GXK-series Blue Note)
  4. Bobby Hutcherson 'Knucklebean' (BN blue label stereo). A great taster for the forthcoming Mosaic Select !
  5. Oh no, that's really sad news. It's just over a year ago since I saw Walter backing Bertha Hope in Brooklyn - a performance in which he looked to be thoroughly enjoying himself. My deepest condolences to his family and may he rest in peace. Not a great week all in all..
  6. I think people are going to enjoy the 'Inner Glow' material on the Hutcherson set ! Already have much of the Hutcherson and all of the Tyner on vinyl or CD so I'll likely pass. Both sets will be great. Thinking about it - I don't have 'Waiting' and 'View From The Inside'. Thoughts anyone? Worth getting this Select for those sessions?
  7. I like Greg Lake in certain contexts, but Emerson was IMHO the best part of the band and easily the most interesting musically. Guy Bit of ELP trivia. That 'Fanfare For The Common Man' was arranged I believe by John Mayer. Of Harriott/Mayer 'Indo-Jazz Fusions' fame !
  8. I think it already has. As a 'Rare Groove'. On vinyl too !
  9. Just listening to it. Grooves like hell. I like the cover art too.
  10. Tony Booth Anthony Blair MP George Orwell
  11. Anita O'Day disk #5 A timely (albeit sad) opportunity to get more acquainted with this set and digest the booklet.
  12. Honey Monster Zoot Animal
  13. I can authenticate that. Saw him not too long ago groovin' at a Lonnie Smith/Lou Donaldson gig.
  14. That 'Fuego' can be a variable one. The first copy of the 47W63rd I got (from France) was a total dog. Looked fine visually but turned out to be badly worn - so sent it back. My second copy (archival quality) was much, much better.
  15. Sad but not unexpected news. RIP. Mosaic set playing tribute this weekend.
  16. 'They' (ie 'Red Ken' Livingstone and his Apparatchiks) are insisting that it will come in on time and under budget (the contingency is 60% apparently). As long as the council tax payers of loadsamoney London and/or National Lottery players foot the eventual bill that's OK with me. It will be a good show. Even if it is in 2013..
  17. The main reason is that most of great jazz collectors died, and their sons are much more interested in money then in vinyl. I personally know a guy whose father was one of the main italian jazz critics, his collection was around 15,000 original pressings. The only problem for me is that the son is a good and talented jazz pianist so, no way to put my hand on the collection. Maybe I gonna make him an offert he can't refuse. As soon I'll find a horse's head. Hey Porcy - welcome back !
  18. Hank Mobley 'Hi Voltage' (BN Liberty blue/white stereo)
  19. Kenny Clarke, Francy Boland & Co. 'The Golden Eight' (BN NY USA mono)
  20. That one will do me and - yes - it sounds very acceptable.
  21. Have that one - good reminder to dig it out tonight, along with Amos..
  22. For me it would be a toss-up between that Thad & Mel set, Larry Young and Bill Evans, in vinyl. Another for the Parker Benedetti too !
