  1. Well at least ALL the contestants gave better renditions of the songs than Mr Stewart, IMO.
  2. Port of Harlem Jazzmen
  3. Chuck, for the Classics discs, you could try townsendrecords.co.uk - but they do not necessarily have stock of all they list on their website. https://www.townsend-records.co.uk/search.p...s&sMethod=music
  4. Mingus Complete Debut set at a big sale. Was waiting for this for at least 7-8 years!
  5. Try soaking the beans for a day or more, replacing the water 1x or 2x and cook them for at least 2-3 hours on high (6-7 in a slow cooker). That might help. I consume a fair bit of all kinds of legumes - don't get much 'wind', but not completely free either.
  6. Django disc 1 ~ great sound, great music!
  7. Just scored my first e-bay purchase/win - the Pete Johnson/Earl Hines/Teddy Bunn Mosaic lp. Next - gotta find some way to transfer the music to CD. Otherwise, I'll just have to make do with staring at the 3 guys on the cover grinning at me...

    Jazz Oracle

...here's hoping for dozens more discs of this music!
  9. Just saw this...
  10. Couldn't resist some offers... Booker Ervin - Book Cooks (Jap) - $12.99! Bill Barron - Modern Windows Suite Max Roach - Karbouda Charles Tolliver - Grand Max Some J.I.P titles (Michel Legrand, Art Simmons/Ronnel Bright, Rene Utreger) and the latest Motown singles set - vol.4.
  11. I think this thread has helped me decide on which Billie Verve set to get.
  12. No Keith Jarrett and no 'electric' Miles
  13. The Four Freshmen is one Mosaic I can resist from buying! Please bug Michael & Scott with many e-mails to release an Ethel Waters Columbia set, well, at least a Select along the lines of the Bechet.
  14. Kid Ory - disc 4 (there's a certain sameness to discs 2-4, with the same musician line-up, but still very good music)
  15. Two George Lewis discs ~ one featuring the N.O clarinetist (At Club Hangover v.1) and the other the trombonist (Homage To Charles Parker).
  16. Earlier: Discs 1 - 3 of the Kid Ory set.
  17. Better late than shelved I guess.
  18. Uh the chap made the final 12 - congrats I think...
  19. Not acquired yet - but will be soon: International Sweethearts of Rhythm - Hot Licks (16 tracks)
  20. Just received my first Bear Family set - the Louis Jordan one. Gonna stop right here, after I get the Julia Lee and Nellie Lutcher sets that is. -_-
  21. One more song choice like that and the votes will go to the other guys, never mind the excellent delivery...
  22. Here's some food for thought: Also, this: Flu Protection? My (very) dismal experience with modern medicine for various ailments leaves me inclined to go for nutritional supplements and traditional herbal medication. Too much antibiotics, steroids and the like has likely caused more harm than good, short-term cures notwithstanding - and I would absolutely refuse any so-called vaccination for this virus, if I were 'privileged' to receive one in the first place. And no, I wouldn't panic about a possible pandemic since it's out of my hands. Best I can do is to help keep those close to me in good spirits, in good health and with good hygiene .
  23. Mildred Bailey discs 4 - 6. Wonderful music - will now look out for more Norvo-Bailey discs on other labels.
  24. Should have been posted in What..listening to.... section.
