  1. Looks like a decent price. OTOH Amazon will be selling it for around $120.

    Steve Lacy

Yes indeed! The music is continuously intriguing from start to end. I think Steve does a Buddhist chant on one of the songs on disc 1.
  3. No rain, a little sunshine or whatever light that's able to get through. The entire frigging city's been enveloped in a thick haze for 4-5 days now. Quality of air is at 'hazardous' levels.
  4. Thanks for the heads up. This is definitely high up on the wishlist. Now I'm wondering to whom I can push those earlier Rounder discs.
  5. Albert Ayler Holy Ghost box Plus the following items from Cdbaby.com: ORGANISSIMO: Waiting For The Boogaloo Sisters PHIL KELLY AND THE NW PREVAILING WINDS: Convergence Zone ROSANA ECKERT: At The End Of The Day THE FEETWARMERS: Centrifugal Swing AYELET ROSE GOTTLIEB: Internal-External BOBBY VINCE PAUNETTO & THE CTM BAND: Commit To Memory
  6. Columbia Jazz Piano Mood Sessions: Disc 5 (Teddy Wilson & Bill Clifton) Disc 6 (Eddie Heywood & Stan Freeman) ~ good late night 'easy listening' music. -_-
  7. Happy B-DAY!!!
  8. Sidney Bechet! ..and all the rest. Looks like it's bread and water for meals the whole of next year.
  9. My deepest condolences to you and your family - stay strong.
  10. I guess Scott and the gang have a "little deal" with Malaysian customs. Hey, if the Chinese and Indonesian CD pirates can do it, why not Mosaic? ← Methinks it's DHL/Airborne that has the deal...never mind the morality, it saves me big bucks. Duties are 35% of the import value
  11. please post a link! ← Jazzloft. There's a video demonstration of how to use the sleeves somewhere in there.
  12. 2.3 days: All the way from Stamford Connecticut, USA to the tropics, including time at the scary customs office. Can't get any better than that.
  13. Re: Kid Ory Set Here's an earlier thread.
  14. I satisfy my regular cravings for the music of the early female blues singers via reissues by this label. Victoria Spivey, Alberta Hunter, Mamie Smith, Virginia Liston - you name it, they've got it. They've even a 14 volume series of obscure female blues/vaudeville singers. Then there's all that other jazz, blues and spirituals stuff. Too darn many reissues I say... Sound quality is variable - from atrociously bad to decent.
  15. Masterworks - Well, here's a cheap(er) way to collect some classic (and expensive) Marvel issues.
  16. You may want to get in touch with Gösta Hägglöf to obtain the Ambassador titles. One issue - I think he accepts cash only. http://www.classicjazz.se/ambass.htm I just went the Classics and Neatwork way. No complaints about the sound quality and, would definitely buy a Mosaic box of the same stuff, if one is ever produced.
  17. The Oscar Papa Celestin disc is a mighty fine one too, so are the four volumes of the Original Indiana 5. Off topic, if you need to hear more John R. T., he is also on a Jazzology disc "Dick Sudhalter & The Anglo-American Alliance, the Tuesday Band" (JCD 274). I don't have it but will be getting it some day.
  18. Eh, seems like only yesterday we wished you happy b-day Have a very good one!
  19. This one is #1001 on the wishlist. Hope it don't go OOP too soon. How bout this one..
  20. Well, managed to cancel the Betty Carter disc and replace it with an early Andrew Hill disc (one "pirated" for another ). And someone beat me to the Betty Carter Roulette Years. Done. No more visiting Dusty's website for the next 10 months.
  21. R.I.P It's been a while since I listened to this one, so it'll be on the weekend listening list.
  22. Great buy ! Can never work out why this one is so under-rated. ← Looking forward to it, as with numerous other Kirk albums on the way.
  23. Uh oh I already have that Impulse. Should have double checked on this one. Perhaps I could request to substitute with another disc, if not too late. I guess a second copy wouldn't hurt since this was what got me hooked on her singing. Serves me right for buying from the "pirates" I suppose. Thanks Lon.
  24. Another one... Damn nice prices. Some items I haven't seen (or not easily available) elsewhere. Art Ensemble Of Chicago -- Reese & The Smooth Ones Betty Carter -- Out There With Betty Carter Betty Carter -- Round Midnight -- The Roulette Years Lucky Thompson -- Tea Time Roland Kirk -- Live In London Roland Kirk -- Slightly Latin Rene Thomas -- Jazz In Paris -- Meeting Mister Thomas Hubert Rostaing/Maurice Meunier -- Jazz In Paris -- Clarinettes A Saint Germain Des Pres I need to stay off the net.
