I satisfy my regular cravings for the music of the early female blues singers via reissues by this label. Victoria Spivey, Alberta Hunter, Mamie Smith, Virginia Liston - you name it, they've got it. They've even a 14 volume series of obscure female blues/vaudeville singers. Then there's all that other jazz, blues and spirituals stuff. Too darn many reissues I say... Sound quality is variable - from atrociously bad to decent.

The Oscar Papa Celestin disc is a mighty fine one too, so are the four volumes of the Original Indiana 5. Off topic, if you need to hear more John R. T., he is also on a Jazzology disc "Dick Sudhalter & The Anglo-American Alliance,the Tuesday Band" (JCD 274). I don't have it but will be getting it some day.

Well, managed to cancel the Betty Carter disc and replace it with an early Andrew Hill disc (one "pirated" for another ). And someone beat me to the Betty Carter Roulette Years. Done. No more visiting Dusty's website for the next 10 months.
