  1. I live in Asia, and since early 2005, at least half a dozen packages have not arrived. A couple ordered through cdconnection.com were promptly replaced with no questions asked. However, the remaining missing packages via sognajd.moc (read backwards) remain missing. My various e-mails to them were never answered and all I could/can do is just take the loss. I'll try getting the bank to reverse some of the card charges.
  2. I'll get a few but not the lot. My priorities would still be the box sets, then the Selects. If Sony/Columbia were to reissue the Ellington, it would have been priced at $9-$10? I believe the JJ is currently available at $10 as an import disc (no other details). Edit: Actually, I'll be getting only "Cosmic Scene" - been waiting a long while for this one
  3. Haven't eaten at McD's or other fast food joints since 1994 - allergic to the stuff.
  4. Erg...I'd buy this set even though I have a fair bit of the music on earlier Verve & Roulette CD issues.

    Frog Records

Not a plug but cdconnection.com has most of the Frog releases available (except Django Vol 3 and a few others).
  6. So, whether I buy the Bailey set (which has 10 discs) or the Teagarden (4 discs), I get the same discount?
  7. Dave I guess my "don't miss it" comment was directed at the trad-jazz fans in general. Condon's groups always featured some of the best musicians and the music has plenty of improvisation - certainly not the "Dixieland" played by banjo bands/chaps in straw hats you have in mind. Still, if you're not into the music, then the set is probably not for you. Not sure when it will hit running low, but probably not this year.
  8. I went the Collectables way for this one (4 discs in all) plus ordered disc 4 of the Mosaic set (free booklet and box!). With these, I have about 70% of the Mosaic, which is a good chunk of the music. The Condon Mob set is still available - don't miss it!
  9. It's back... Some of the contestants sound more promising than last year's crop.
  10. Mildred Bailey discs 1 - 3 next...
  11. 1000x thank you Organissimo!! I would have missed out on plenty of great music and information without this board.
  12. Today, visited djangos.com and ordered some OOP Steve Lacy and Helen Humes discs. Then darted off to Timeless and Storyville websites to order a couple of vintage jazz discs from each, then back to tower.com for some more OOP items including a Jelly Roll Morton RCA set. Trying to quell my pre-New Year jitters, whatever that is.
  13. Love the Hines, Wilson, Jess Stacy and Ralph Sutton sessions. Also, the magnificent Art Tatum concert (not from Jazz Piano Mood series) tagged on at the end. To be honest, if this were not a Mosaic set, I would not have bothered to acquire much of the music. Having said that, in smallish doses, there is much good music to be enjoyed in the set.
  14. OK - so I'll just have to bring forward my next Mosaic order by a few months and get only the Selects. Some of the regular sets I've been eyeing will have to wait.
  15. Mosaic is not getting my money for at least the next 6 months... But when they do, it's going to be for the Basie and Sarah Vaughan sets.
  16. Music of New Orleans clarinetist George Lewis. Recordings where Geri Allen is present either as leader or sideman.
  17. Hoping a Roland Kirk Mercury box from Djangos.com arrives in the mail sometime next week.
  18. Been listening to the last 4 discs of this set - much wonderful music therein. So much variety - blues, gospel-tinged music, small group swing, big bands. I'm just realising that Mildred was a versatile singer and highly influential one too (according to the liner notes). I could do without the betty-boop type vocals though. And, each alternate take in the set has something different to offer. One note - this set is not as "complete"as the title suggests - there are several alternates with the Benny Goodman band left out cause Columbia no longer has the masters - small grouse for an otherwise wonderful set.
