  1. WELL to me, they're QUITE different. Both are really great swinging things. . .but different.

    Bud Freeman

Bud. . . love his tone and his suppleness. ALWAYS makes me happy!
  3. Okay. . . I have listened to the whole thing at last. I like the bonus disc best! It's an okay show. . .but only that. . .some really tepid performances.
  4. Well to be accurate. . . only about half the box really just jumps from Bird solo to Bird solo. On part of the Los Angeles stuff they allow bits of other music to slip in. In much of the New York material all or near all of a number is recorded. I thought this material would really bug me too. . . but to be honest. . . it's fascinating shit. And the booklet is amazing. You learn so much, and unexpectedly you learn a lot about Dean Benedetti that is so contrary to what Russell et al put out there, and is truly attention grabbing. And in the process learn something about jazz in the West Coast.
  5. Hope you get the job to do the next Condon set!

    Stan Getz

Last weekend I listened to the "In Sweden" on Dragon. . . . Wow, that always makes me sit up and take notice, both the quartet and larger ensemble sides.
  7. You'll like this music. . . but I won't say that is VERY VERY much like the Mob set. It's more cohesive in that it's not different artists but all sessions Condon very strongly midwifed, and is a bit more "stretched." Excellent stuff, excellent sound on the Mosaic (haven't heard the Collectables).
  8. Elton and Rod. . . sorry. . . I just never did like their music. They're not in Stevie's league. . .FOR ME.
  9. I know all about Decware. Wasn't recommending it to a European. I'd recommend them to Americans though. Supported for the lifetime of the owner. Hand built modified digital sources. Hand built amps, preamps, phono preamps, speakers! CEC. .. beltdriven transports and cd players. Excellent!
  10. Sorry. Should have just typed Toots or Tootsie.
  11. I like a lot of this set. . . . Haven't spun it in a while, need to get it out. Theilman does some nice playing on the sessions he's on!
  12. Including Decware? Are they represented in Europe, or, more specifically, in the Netherlands? I've never seen them here. By the way I was recommending CEC to his friend, not Decware.
  13. So far I think all the recommendations are for European supported equipment. . . .
  14. I'm very happy with a Sony DVD/SACD player that has a modified tube output stage done by Decware High Fidelity, but if I could I would get the most expensive CEC model I could, because I've heard a few and think they're absolutely great. I believe there is one in his price range.
  15. Oh I see now. . . okay. . . . I never have attached much significance to "LOA". . .! But PKD would take great solace in it. Right now: PKD Society Newsletter #5, interview with K. D. Jeter. "Voices from the Street" was shipped to me Monday! Whoo hoo! A new previously unpublished PKD mainstream novel!
  16. Thanks! I was reveiwing the portion of the EMI twofer really, haven't yet heard the new domestic cd. But I will!
  17. SAVE UP AND BUY IT NEW FROM MOSAIC. THEY OWN THIS MATERIAL. THIS HAS THE BEST BOOKLET OF ANY MOSAIC SET EVER IN MY OPINION!
  18. Received mine yesterday too. . . got the bonus disc. Spun the first disc here at work. 'Salright!
  19. I'll have to check out that monument. I'm very far away from it and don't make many visits to that part of the world. I'm sure my father has seen that one though!
  20. You know about this, right? Oh yes, but what do I need that for? I have several copies of each of those novels.
  21. Yes, John is right. . . . But I do like this one more and more as time goes by. Guess I'm into another childhood. . . ..
  22. Not Lonson. I'm Lonson at AAJ (that's my real first name, a family name). I guess it was "Lon Armstrong". . . .Hard to remember!
  23. I've had the set for years. . . . I've never seen it used.
  24. Right. I think I saw the track list in 2004 (from Belden, but I was not allowed to distribute) . . . Two years or so before the box appeared.
