  1. I have had the lp and I have a European cd. It's fantastic music!
  2. Sound is decent, not that heavy on reverb.
  3. That Bud Freeman lp is a great one! This is going to be a nice cd. The more I think about this, the more I think this is going to be a real fine series for Mosaic.
  4. Ron, I think that statement simplifies things. For example, McMaster narrowed the stereo spread on those two track tapes. That's likely not his only manipulations. RVG also does his tricks. I find these threads fascinating because it underlines to me that almost everyone has a different idea of what sounds good, and almost everyone's room and system makes a cd sound different. . . .!
  5. The previous issue of Horacescope was I believe remastered by a Japanese engineer, not McMaster.

    Helen Merrill

Two Helen Merrill Verve titles were added to the Verve Vault. . . most likely sourced from Japanese cds.
  7. My wife is going to be feeling rather ill on Valentine's Day. . . . But she'll have some expensive flowers to keep her company til I come home right after work and cook up dinner and get everything ready for American Idol (her favorite show, for real).
  8. Well cool, glad that has been on cd before, never saw it available anywhere! Peter, whenever an American company says "never on cd before" they mean IN AMERICA, just don't take the time to write it out. I agree that's lame and all, but American jazz cd buyers pretty much know and expect this. There are some who flat don't buy imports, which I can sort of intellectually understand, but can't say that I share the practice. I've got the Cosmic Scene lp on cd remastered by Shawn, who does one helluva job, I bought the lp at the Austin Record Convention some four years ago. I like the session. It's from a period where I think Duke was doing little wrong.
  9. I voted with the majority though I'll take them anywhere. . . I want to have them as opposed to not have them if they'r available. Value for money is a factor, as well as just having another version to listen to on occasion. (I know how to program a cd player. A vcr. . .well. . . . )
  10. I'm lucky. . . I got 'em cheap and I like them. They're NOT worth paying all those dollars for.
  11. The one I've been playing the most lately is this one: The Prestige Trio Sessions This reissues "Chun King" and "Little Barefoot Soul."
  12. T, Says right here (from the initial post) that they'll be moving to retail relatively quickly: "This new series of Mosaic products will feature original artwork and liner notes, new remastering and many of these classic albums will feature bonus tracks. Although it is subject to change, we are expecting to release the titles from this series to retail distribution within nine to twelve months of release. With this lineup, we have every hope that this will prove as interesting and worthwhile a project as Mosaic Select has been over the last few years."
  13. Hey, I agree that SACD would be nice and set them apart, though I'm less impressed with SACD than you seem to be (ever since my redbook playback has gotten so damned good). But hey, the Ellington has never been on cd anywhere! And it's good. (Much more what I want than Hard Bop or the JJ album which isn't that great in my opinion). So I'm gettign the Ellington for sure.
  14. I've seen some footage of that performance LV, but don't know a complete or more complete release.
  15. Erik, I'm sorry. . . it's. . . www.spun.com I preordered from!
  16. Many more happy ones!
  17. There's a new cd coming out on Fruit Tree of the Stuttgart material. I preordered mine from www.spun.com EDITED TO ADD CORRECT COMPANY AND LINK
  18. I'll order the Ellington, great lp! I've got the others in one form or another on cd except the Lloyd which I have on lp. . . may get the cd eventually. I had asked Michael Cuscuna about the possibility of issuing the unreleased album Sunny Murray did for Columbia and he told me "maybe if we ever get around to single releases." Maybe!
  19. Zero times per week. Maybe once per year.
  20. Sent you an email payment query Allen.
  21. I haven't compared any of the Harris lps to cds on Xanadu, but when I HAVE compared Xanadu lps to Xanadu cds. . . the lps won.
  22. I've got them all myself Guy, but would like to see them available again in US editions. Helen deserves the treatment!
  23. Right, but they don't seem to be available now, at least not through regular distributors.
  24. I advised paypal that it was best for them to "get it while you can"!
