How can you say that about Trumpet Guy? Okay. . . I'm not a fan of Moncur III or Hubbard. . . but I don't hate them.

I find that a little bit difficult to believe ... I can't even listen to the Fillmore live sides or Pangaea Agartha anymore it's so intense. It blows my mind and I have to stop. I agree . . . .To me none of these comes close to the originals. I like them, I listen to them occasionally, but they're very different from the original material. Especially, for me, the drumming is quite different and colors the entire work with a differnt brand of cheese. . . .

A rather wild lp on ESP Records by Burton Greene, his first as a leader I think. . . . There is no way that lp could have been as popular as Miles work with the same marketing behind it. Sorry.

Where would T. S. Monk be without Thelonious Sphere Monk?

on the Forte set! The same Danish material sounds awful on the Storyville cd really. . . . I don't have a stereo vcr going so didn't notice fake stereo on the tape. . . but the sound on the cd is almost as if it was dolbied and nondolbied about five times on a six generation dube. . . . Still Armstrong and band can be heard and the music is so wonderful.

I haven't seen or heard the DVD. The sound on the VHS isn't too bad if you ask me.

Oh yeah, it wasn't Billie Holiday for sure. . . but I thought she sang rings around most of the others. I watch that show because my wife LOVES it. I've never known my wife to ever get that excited about a musical show or recording in general. She asks me a lot of questions as this goes on and it's so nice to share a musical thing with her. And especially lately it's so nice to see her having a good time relaxing.

I always saw that cover shot as Cannon listening to playback with a smile.. . . I think I'll stick to that option! Jim, last time I listened to Live I thought there were some edits in there too. . . .Here's hoping it gets reissued soon. . . good stuff!

That Gato just flat never had any liner notes.

It's pretty good. First disc is better than the second to me. . . it seems to mainly be remastered by Ted Kendall. Sound is very good. . . a spot brighter perhaps than the previous ones but that may just be me and a system change or two.

I'm with you on the Idol at least. . . my wife has so much fun watching that show that it makes it fun for me; it's so rare that she is interested in music. 24. . . . That show has not impressed me, don't watch it.

Hey Weizy, I grew up in a poor black neighborhood in Philly, then spent my adolescence in two African nations and traveled a bit through Africa and Europe before I was 18. I had a different perspective than some others did when I returned. I looked at this crap on tv and never recognized anything that resembled my reality when I was a kid, and when I came back it seemed hollow jive. . .Spreading the "everything is so cool here in America the best place in the world" shucks. . . . I really think that brainwashing kids with this irreal bs is just not good. But that's me, as I said above, my opinion.

Ugh. Just my personal opinion . . . I have no kids. . . no use for that show either. Even when I was younger that seemed like just hollow jive tv.

That's what I would say too. . . "good, but not outstanding." I like Nguyen Le's "Purple" better as a Hendrix program.

Someone needs a My Three Sons box? I wouldn't watch another episode of that if I was paid to! Enough old tv boxes already. What they need to do is make more good tv shows NOW.

Yeah I know. . . but I now want more than ever for yourmusic to make it good --- they will I'm sure in time. And their turnaround in shipping replacements is possibly quicker. I may go that Sony route and see if they'll just send me the one defective disc from the Cellar Door set rather than my having to send back the whole set.

I have the JRVG of that one and it keeps opening up my ears. . . there are some ideas that Cannon spills out on that one that just really keep impressing me. I really dig it!

Well, that's good news! Did you order yours from www.yourmusic.com ? I'm going to keep trying!

I'd also support this with a viewing. . . but have no cable of any kind. (And think that's a good idea for my household considering the amount of TV already watched!)
