  1. Well, I personally don't find Krupa to be "amateurish"--he's playing to the crowd's love of flash, and he's generating a lot of excitement. I like Krupa, I like Webb, they're different players with different approaches and styles. The passage where it's mainly Goodman and Krupa playing. . . was that a first in a swing jazz performance? Sure it's not Trane and Elvin but it's different for the time.
  2. No doubt. Especially the MPSs. ← Actually, I'd love to see them gather up the radio broadcast material I keep reading about but not hearing!

I've gotten most of mine from Worlds. . . cduniverse as well, though they don't offer all of them for some reason.
  4. Here's hoping.
  5. All right Q! I really enjoy this box and you've described the variety and the highlights well! I think you would enjoy the Capitol box. . . there IS an affinity between these two. Both are great boons to jazz collecting from Mosaic. . . all that stuff in such great sound and in one place with killer annotation.
  6. Here's hoping yours is shipping soon!
  7. Gentlemen. . .check your order status. . . it may have changed to "Shipped."
  8. Well, unless they back order these and cancel them, we'll know soon. . . I ordered all but the Silver (have that one already).
  9. I've read that the Shaw does not have the software as well, due to length. I bet that BMG/yourmusic sells the discs with the software. . . why would they bother to make another edition?
  10. Dave, if you're new to The Band, I wouldn't spend the 70 dollars on this. . . I'd get "The Band" and see whatcha think.
  11. I don't know. . . I really like "Moondog Matinee." Maybe I'm just weird but it's fun and it's pretty well-executed to my ears!
  12. It's back up now!
  13. When the series first came out I was still reading Stereophile, and they mentioned he was then using dcs equipment.
  14. I'm not that keen on the Nelson set myself considering the material on it that I do know and my waning enthusiasm for that stuff. I'm not complaining about the Mosaic direction though; I like what they've been producing and I'm looking forward to their future choices.
  15. Pete is selling some excellent discs here! The Charlie Parker and the Private Dukes are highly recommended, especially at these prices! (That really goes for all of these).
  16. Right, I've read an interview with the engineer of the XRCD series from JVC who said he would not let a signal go near a Sonic Solutions deck---he said it immediately took on a "digital" character he was trying at all costs to avoid. I think there may be something to this. . . . I prefer the sound of the RVG (I haven't heard the Mosaic Select version).
  17. I really like old Wurlitzers too. . . .They're very fun to play and when you get them going they can really growl. I like the action. I've got a digital Yamaha piano that has a nice feel to it and has a fw good electric piano sounds; I like playing this for the Rhodes (a little too sweet) and Wurly sounds (the Wurly is pretty good). I think Zawinul is a great electric pianist. . . his early stuff is really strong. And I agree about Light as a Feather. Fantastic.
  18. I've got the first two sets and love them! If you order all three you'll save almost enough dollars to get the Muddy Waters set. That's one you don't want to miss!
  19. Yes, there are some hilarious lines AND situations on that show! My favorite episode so far is where he is trying to make good with the woman who he faked being DEAD to get away from. . . .
  20. I think they figure the earliest WR doesn't sell as well as later, and that we fanatics have all transferred our lps to cdr and/or bought the European two cd release. I have done both.
  21. I was sleeping (literally) on this thread. Sade! Thanks! I'm always glad to reminded of Ms. Adu.
  22. Anyone enjoy "My Name is Earl?" I've been having fun with that one. Karma!
  23. Yes, I threw on mine too. "She's a Carioca." Forgot how cool this stuff was!
  24. I actually like Grounded for Life (well, being married to an Irish ex-Catholic really helps) and I do think it was on for four seasons at the least. Arrested Development is pretty good though to be honest it flies a little too often over the top for me and I can't watch too much of it at a sitting. . . .
  25. THAT I don't have the answer to. I wouldn't be surprised to see Andoran companies trot something out.
