Hoping the best for a safe passage for you and Dan.

It is pretty new to me, so I think someone else may have led you to it.

Nucleus "Live at the BBC" disc 2 (of 13!)

I've heard a few before that didn't really floor me. Wilkins led me to this one and he's possibly the highlight, though the trombone playing is quite good. Right now "I want the music to be hot like my love for you my darling" Svensk Jazzhistoria Vol. 5 – Swedish Jazz 1943–47 – Jazzen Anfaller disc 1 This series of releases presenting the history of jazz in Sweden are excellent--I have eleven volumes, all I think Caprice Records have released so far.

Three listens this morning to chronicle. Did a tube swap in my ZROCK2 that is giving me interesting results, and my little furry companion Fiona sleeping on my chest caused me to have a fifteen minute nap in the middle. . . which is probably a good thing. First Miles Davis "Filles De Kilimanjaro" Mobile Fidelity Lab SACD This is one of my favorite recordings ever and this is my favorite digital version. Then: Vandever "Regrowth" New Amsterdam cd Kalia Vandever: compositions and trombone Immanuel Wilkins: alto saxophone Lee Meadvin: guitar Paul Cornish: piano Nick Dunston: bass Connor Parks: drums Interesting music. Kalia Vandever's compositions are interesting as is her playing and there's Immanuel Wilkins here. . . a sign of quality. Now: Yusef Lateef "Eastern Sounds" OJC RVG Edition cd Great music. There are numerous criticisms of Blue Note's RVG series, some of which I can agree to on some issues, but the Prestige series is overall very good sounding.

It's not something I worry about. I love the sylvan beauty of my surroundings. But since it seems to bug you I'll delete it.

Duke Ellington "In Sweden 1973: featuring the Swedish Guests Alice Babs, Rolf Ericson, Ake Person, Nils Lindberg" Caprice Records cd Blew the dust off this one, a great listen.

I went into record stores and told the owners they were selling illegal merchandise. That didn’t do much good, so then I started to go in the stores, gather up the bootleg copies and walk out with them. Most of the time I wasn’t even stopped, because they knew the records were illegal. But it wasn’t solving the problem.” https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1996-11-19-ca-620-story.html

It's quite interesting. It gets a bit abstract, has a mid-eastern vibe and then in the end. . .it has a cool swinging piece.

Keith Jarrett Trio "Still Live" ECM Japan cd 2 It's been a while since I played this one but it's one of my favorite Jarrett Trio recordings.

I believe that is Dawson and Williams.

Chrystal Silence towers over the others for me. Yes, and there's "Pike's Peak" with Evans and Pike--good one.

Mosaic to release 1960s Freddie Hubbard set
jazzbo replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I'm sort of the opposite. I agree that in general I like Freddie more as a sideman but when I want to hear a Freddie as a leader album I'd reach for a Blue Note or one of the two Impulses more than those of any other label or time. This is a great set in part to have all the sessions in uniform excellent mastering, and I was able to help my best bud with four titles that he didn't have from duplicates this set caused me to have. -
I posted this on the "other" thread. Walt Dickerson albums you may be missing. . . with Ra, Crowe, Hill, Davis Jr. and Dailey. Jarrett and Burton on Atlantic is a favorite. Lem Winchester and the Ramsey Lewis Trio and With Feeling. Of course there are the Corea/Burton ECMs. Ben Thomas with Neto on Madman's Difference. Stefon Harris Kindred with Terrasson. Johnny Rae Opus de Jazz Vol. 2.

Another master leaving us.

Mal Waldron "Searching in Grenoble 1978 Solo Piano Concert" Resonance Records 2 cd set Great sound, interesting music. At times almost Jarrett-esque.

Miles Davis "Pangaea" US 2 cd set I have different Japanese versions of this wild music, but I haven't listened to the US 2 cd set in some time. It's a murky mix but the music is a swamp of fused elements and the mix suits it. And it certainly is not a victim of the loudness wars--I had to turn this UP.
