  1. Sounds like Solid Records has turned its attention the Mainstream catalog. Cool!
  2. A massive talent. Svend will be missed.

    Thanks for that info Mary.
  4. Ask them. I think that the big boxes have three things going for them: no need to license covers, often they can use the photos they own, and they don't have to pay for color printing.

It's the same song, I think that it's likely the hall playing that as a their every performance sign off, doubt it was "My Country 'Tis of Thee" for Dylan. I have the box but after listening to about half the box I'm giving it a rest before listening again. When I got the box I thought I would be most excited about the electric halves of the shows. To the contrary, I find the acoustic sets most fascinating.

Sure that's not "God Bless the Queen?"
  7. That's how I understand it, the Select series is definitely finished, and I swear I read that the Single program was as well.
  8. There are the two discs put out by Verve. . . and a few in trading circles, but not much.
  9. I think I've been pretty happy with this one from the start. . . . I was iffy on Capitol era Herman for a while, but warmed up to it just before Mosaic got to it, which was a handy coincidence. When these present Selects and Singles are gone. .. there will be no more. That's a sinking feeling.
  10. Woody had a number of really good bands. This is among them, I really like the Select and the sound is very good.
  11. It's the Hobby Orkest. Dutch orchestra consisting of studio musicians playing music in own arrangements and own compositions. They were rehearsing in the Soundpush Studio in Blaricum, Holland. from this page: https://www.discogs.com/artist/5543909-Hobby-Orkest There are youtube videos from '67 I have not watched (I don't do youtube).

  13. This week it's "The Lady is a Tramp" by Tony Bennett from "Perfectly Frank." Just for the Ralph Sharon solo in an Ellingtonian/Monkian manner.
  14. Yes, this was a great release. I've played the entire set four times so far, so playability is high. I hope there are more like this one.
  15. This was released but it was not the same concert.

  17. Interesting. . . I've never seen a cd of The Last Time We Saw Paris from Sony. Jackpot and Brubeck in Amsterdam were released in the last few years. . . but I can't find any reference to The Last Time We Saw Paris.
  18. Thanks for the headsup on the continuation of this series.
  19. I too enjoyed many years there, under my own name before being banned, then shortly thereafter when I rejoined as Pie-Eyed Blue. R.I.P. to another forum where I spent many hours and made friends.
  20. It's not available on cd. May appear via Japan in the future. . . they've released/reissued a few others that surprised me the last few years.
  21. I like the earliest material the best too, but this is a case where "it's all good."
  22. That was the only forum I was ever banned from. . . sort of wish it were still around.
  23. Brewed strong, bout 20 percent milk, a little sugar.
  24. As unhappy as I am with the election results and the even worse than I expected behavior of the President at the inauguration or afterwards it hasn't really influenced my music selection or impacted my listening time.
  25. I have Eric MIngus' "Um . . .Er. . .Uh" cd. Interesting cd.
