Well, I still won't have the stereo set up for a few days, but the booklet is very nice and as is all the packaging. So happy we have this bootleg series!

Not much music this week other than the classical radio station in the cargo van. But heard Shostakovich's 11th Symphony and loved it. Was just the right music for the right time.

Hope your move goes well. Thanks. By this evening all that will be left is the cleaning up. (Possibly the worst part, though I did do most of the kitchen this afternoon, which is a load off my mind.)

Mine shipped yesterday from amazon.com but I probably won't get to hear it til sometime next week as my system is sort of in flux as I move from Westlake to Chardon. Been moving myself (by myself) for a week and I'm pooped!

I grew up in Philly when he was just starting out and I have always admired him. Til now. We can perhaps take some little consolation in the fact that when I most admired him (the sixties) he was probably not doing this. Or maybe we can't. What a horrible series of actions. He's going to end up poor and possibly imprisoned. Or I secretly hope so.

Welcome Simon. I can really only speak for myself: I have the box but mainly listen to the albums as originally released, and mainly for nostalgic reasons. I'm not sure how much input Coleman or band members had in the sequencing or take selection for the albums. My gut says some, but not final say so, but that's just my gut, not an informed opinion.

Watched the first season of Party Down. Was entertaining.

Cool! Glad you were able to make that outing before the show, and glad you enjoyed the show.

I love Pigpen so I have to have the 'sixties too. And I really do like hearing the band grow from '65 to '70, leaps and bounds at times!

I'm not as well-versed in blues as many here, but I'm not comfortable with the trashing of Johnson. The man was a compelling performer and anyone who plays guitar can hear his skill and marvel.

Yes, Chesterland and Bainbridge were definitely more "civilized" than out in the country in Geauga! I really love being in Geauga now, and remember how miserable I was in the 'seventies there! I had just come back from five years in Africa which was paradise for me. . . it was a rude awakening to be in small town Ohio! Now when I wake up and all I can see out the windows are trees rustling in the wind and all I can hear are birds. . . it's so nice. Too bad about your summer getaway in Hudson, it's pretty there.

That's interesting Chris. I spent '71 to '80 on and off in Burton. . . . My Dad had the "church on the square" from '71 to '97. I hated it then. And Burton itself hasn't really changed much. Chardon, where the park in the picture is, has really grown. My fiancee lives in Chardon but off in the woods near Munson township. Man it's beautiful!

That Savoy trio recording was recorded on the day I was born, I'm fond of it. I actually prefer Jones' work as a sideman on Savoy, some great comping and soloing on those records, he really was a support for Byrd et al.

I HAVE done it in the past. I felt that you had worthwhile contributions I did not want to miss so I rescinded. I feel that way less and less, just so much negativity and closed minded opinions inferring others are somehow lesser. This is how you come off. Bye.

Lord help me, my fiancee has me watching Big Brother . . . gave up watching that years ago. The show does have some fascinating moments, surrounded by sheer boring stretches.

I have been trying to give an answer to this. . . I really don't have a "favorite." I have many favorites. Some of the California material on the Mosaic set blows me away. And to be honest I really like the Birdland All Stars material. . . it has a different vibe that I respond to and I think a lot of it is quite good. So much wonderful live Bird. The man was a wildfire across the musical prairie.
