  3. He's living with a Shakespearean scholar. That will do it. Or perhaps I should quote a friend of mine who might say "Methinks he drinks."
  4. If it has the same track listing as ths one, the answer is below the track listing. http://www.discogs.com/Sonny-Stitt-How-High-The-Moon/release/3996592

Most of it has been out again in different mixes. As someone who grew up listeing to the lps I'm happy to have them coming out, in the album mixes and sequence and they are to be mastered by Bernie Grundman, promising to sound really good. They're also going cheaply.
  6. Finished this one Re-reading this one for the I-don't-know-how-manyeth time. First time in this edition though.
  7. This is a great set at a great price. I have it, I really love it.

I have it (Xmas gift) and have leafed through it, holding off on reading it . . . just sort of waiting for the right time.
  9. Less than a finger. A little dab does me.
  10. I'll be interested to hear your reactions. I still remember the alternates I heard as being different, not that exciting. But I've ordered a copy of the new SHM-CD.
  11. and to you too!
  12. I'm a major fan too. Great cast and good tv writing. Looking forward to next season. They don't let it get stale!
  13. Earlier this afternoon I re-watched the second season episode of Leverage that my uncle Jack is in, "The Top Hat Job." Hilarious! "Whoever you are out there you're fired!" always cracks me up.
  14. Sorry, I forgot the Miles was called Take Off. Yes, it does.
  15. I wouldn't be too excited. Alternates have circulated among traders and I didn't find them to add that much. I'm far away from the discs right now but I think that alternates exist of about two thirds the session.
  16. Well, she had a full life. My new gal shares a birthdate with her, I've always remembered that ever since I first met my gal 35 years ago. Bacall was a very good actress! R.I.P.
  17. I think it's really just a little drib and drab of media attention. Comare it to say rock, or rap.
  18. Partly I think because of its origins in shady districts and among the unempowered, partly due to racist minds and economically fueled conflict, it always HAS been. And now that it is a tiny little music market with a widespread diverse "following," even jazz fans find less common ground by the day in views of its past and its future. And it has little foothold in the present, little solidity and solidarity, artists and fans alike clash over petty and big notions, gigs and "cool prestige."
  19. It just proves to me something that I have begun to realize (partly tongue-in-cheek, partly very not): no one should write about jazz.
  20. Many many happy returns!
  21. Hard to imagine what we would have had had he stayed with us to this day. He probably would have kept trying to incorporate what was fresh and happening in the general musical world into his music, and we would have likely had hits and misses, but some hit all the way out of the park.
  22. You'll enjoy the Ellington, sound was better than I anticipated.
  23. Watching "Fire Walk with Me" on Blu-ray. . . never saw this film before. IMage and sound is amazing.
