  1. Thanks. I'll look into it. Not really looking to explore with my wallet too far in the genre as my gal has a lot to explore on hand.
  2. Thanks, that makes me feel less crazy!
  3. Interesting. I don't feel the same way about Fringe, I don't get emotionally involved in the same way. And I loved the ambiguity and complexity and nonsense. Watched the Secrets of the Dead episode about the Minoan civilization. Very interesting.
  4. I dread the thought for the most part as I've lived in this town for almost thirty-one years now and have been in a house for nearly fifteen years. . . and boy have I collected a lot of stuff, not to mention I still have a lot of my late wife's stuff to deal with. But we do what we need to do. If I need to do it I know I will. Hope that if you have to, this is your last move for a long while!
  5. Wow, e. Relocating again. I've been thinking of that possibility because my parents' health has become challenging. A big plus to be close to them, and my two brothers and their family. But. . . those winters. Can't ride a motorcycle all year round. And my friends here. . . . It's a hard decision to have to make. Luckily right now I don't think I HAVE to make it.
  6. I would do that Jim. The cd doesn't sound good or right.
  7. The miracle is the dubious miracle of transformation into "internetish" behavior. And the hope of many to have the last word.
  8. Been there, done that.
  9. I'm thinking that I need to organize my purchasing better. Twice the last few months I've purchased John Coltrane items (that board policy doesn't allow me to sell) that I already had!
  10. Looks interesting. Chiwetel Ejiofor is an interesting actor.
  11. Yeah, sorry to hear that, that's been my experience for several years now. It's time has passed I guess.
  12. Well, in my opinion Lost at its best eclipses Fringe, but Lost was not always at its best. Fringe has begun to incorporate elements of Alias, to good effect. The Good Wife was a really solid episode.
  13. the things one does to get laid... Well, to be completely accurate. .. I was already getting laid, and the music just crept in. I honestly really like their Spanish language recordings. I recommend checking some out. It surprised me how much I have been getting into the music. I know sharing it with her is a draw, but I like it outside of that.
  14. Jim, just a side (non-snide) remark. . . you have a very interesting way of thinking.
  15. That's an interesting thought Chuck. I've wondered before whether composers were sometimes writing music that they could peform or writing for a virtuoso's skills. I don't really know enough about Debussy and his biographical information to know what kind of a pianist he was. I'm more familiar with his orchestral work than his solo piano pieces, though I do have recordings of I think most of those, and from several different pianists. Pretty challenging piano pieces, great skill would be needed is my guess. (I have playad piano, but I'm no judge of difficulty as I'm awful). If I had to guess I'd say Debussy's skills weren't up to it, but that's just a guess.
  16. Yes, I can't wait for tonight's The Good Wife.
  17. A televised appearance by Obama here in Austin. The man knows how to talk to an audience.
  18. Sorry you feel that way. Just thought it was an interesting place for random thoughts that some might enjoy reading. I'm enjoying reading the thoughts. Made me think of mixed nuts, I love mixed nuts and eat too many when I have them.
  19. Re-watching the Fringe season finale. Sure didn't expect this!
  20. I must be really really poor then, because I was thinking I need more money to live the life I want.
  21. Similar meteorological situation here!
  22. Didn't buy anything today but did order five Marc Anthony cds and one Ricky Martin from amazon on Sunday, all for less than twenty dollars total including shipping. This is music I never listened to until the last three years with my gal, who loves this music. I must say I had a totally inaccurate perception of this music that has been corrected. They are both agile singers and much of the music is very enjoyable. Especially in romantic circumstances.
  23. When I heard that lecture on Transparency I decided not to pursue Sun Ra's philosophical thoughts because it turned me off and away from him. His shtick seemed so full of nonsense, especially his word derivation thing. I've followed that direction away from his spoken or written philosophy, happily.
  24. Damn! I was thinking last week: what if we hadn't lost Eric. Would jazz be different now? One of those things we never can tell. But he had the mojo, the deep mojo.
  25. Breakfast with my baby. Should be happening in about a half hour. Busy as she is this month, it may be the only time I see her today. I'm going to enjoy every second, every touch, every look, every sound her voice makes.
