  1. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. . . . Don't let this stop you from seeing the beauty of Europe and other places!
  2. Thank you for sharing. I'm glad you've joined this site, because there are many here who appreciate your uncle's work and talent and are happy to be able to hear posts just like this one above. Thank you for being here and all the best!
  3. Started watching Treme, Season 1, on loan from a friend. Interesting. Seems a bit too "something" to be real, but entertaining.

Very good. Available under Freddie Hubbard's name as "Minor Mishap" on Black Lion, with alternates. Sounds better on the OJC, in my opinion.
  5. I agree that GG albums are hard to find. But to say that his albums feel off when Pearson took over is crazy.Have you heard Pearson on GG Idle Moments album/just awesome stuff.Pearson not only wrote Idle Moments. He produced, and arranged that whole session.Which became one of Blue Notes most succesful hard-bob dates. In my opinion Pearsson deserves more than that. And he deserves his rightfull place in the (Icons of Jazz) history books. If you read the history of Blue Note.Pearson is always mentioned in such a small way.Thats not how it should be.He helped Blue Note more than many know.He help guide the careers of up and coming artist. Some of those that was larger known than Pearson. But Pearson was always there. In the background is where he wanted to be.But his talent speaks for itself.Composer, arranger, producer of some of the most notable Blue Note sessions.Song for My Father,The Sidwinder, including Idle Moments all had the Pearson touch ! Lets not forget those that made others famous or rich for that matter, that enjoyed being in the background doing what they loved.Ike Quebec, and Duke Pearson was right in the thick of it all.Had they not been there, doing what they loved to do, regardless of seeking any fame or fortune, many of those that enjoy success today would not be where they are had it not been for Duke Pearson and Ike Quebec. Finally, lets not forget these jazz giants, who had what it took to put together some awesome Blue Note sessions.Lets give them there props in the history book. Its Long Overdue . Well stated and welcome to the forum. I'm all for props for Ike and Duke!

  7. Many of these (and I believe more) are available on eMusic.
  8. If there really ever is a Zombie Apocalypse I would think it would be fitting that my least favorite fantasy element becomes my least favorite reality. I am so tired of zombie stuff.
  9. I'm thinking how fortunate I am to be the child of my loving parents.
  10. Some of these new titles have appeared at Dusty Groove.
  11. I'm thinking that I'm very fortunate to have picked the Rolf & Joachim Kuhn "Impressions Of New York" cd up from Da Bastids before it ran out of stock. Interesting session.
  12. May you collect many more happy returns!
  13. I love that movie! Watched the Office finale. Interesting.
  14. She's certainly not wearing much, if anything. The joke may be considered in poor taste by some.
  15. Many many happy returns!
  16. I really prefer the sound of the earliest albums in mono. Don't dig the early stereo mixes.
  17. I have four of them, and I THINK they're legit. I like all four quite a bit.
  18. I didn't get that email either. However my queue, mainly filled with classical music choices, went from 14 items to 2 in a few weeks.
  19. I'm surprised it has lasted this long the way that its inventory has been diminishing the last 12 months or so. Oh well, the world is ending soon anyway.
  20. Haven't caught the Treme bug yet but it's only a matter of time. Watching "Surface" a mediocre science fiction show from 2005 that only made it through one season. It stars Lake Bell who is easy to watch.
  21. I was being soothed from some unhappy frustration by music and was wondering: what would my life be like if I hadn't developed (or probably inherited) the love of music (and the collecting bug, which I'm sure I inherited). The most likely scenario I thought up was I'd probably have a wet bar in my living room and a swollen liver.
  22. The Good Wife finale was quite good. What a tangle! She moves away from her husband. . . and now her firm wishes to become involved in his political career.
  23. Monk's Music Trio cds are well worth checking out; this is my favorite.
  24. This one is good. . . not a favorite Blakey of mine though. I confess, Curtis Fuller does less and less for me as time goes by. And this session lacks a certain spark I've come to expect with Messenger dates. But, that could just be me, and in time I might really like it.
