  1. My favorite Wayne Shorter cover.
  2. Old Codger Brilliance
  3. I had one of those, gave it to my youngest brother about ten years ago. It was a nice receiver, but all the amps I've had since have made music sound better in my opinion. Still, nice mellow sound.
  4. Mad Men season 4 on Blu-Ray. I'm enjoying watching Draper's world slowly sink.
  5. A wonderful reissue in every way.
  6. Many many more happy happy ones Mr. Bright Moments!
  7. The US "Tenors Head On" cd has additional material not on the Japanese so rejoice. I haven't compared the Hall to the original release, don't have the Gambit. I'm less concerned about those sort of things these days. I believe the Japanese release is the original lp release as was issued.
  8. Many many happy returns!
  9. Yes, EMI Japan. Check out Dusty Groove. Also the Liberty by Perkins and Kamucha, never sounded so good.
  10. Must confess I haven't seen her Christmas album and don't have it. I generally don't listen to Christmas music. The secular stuff always seemed square and corny to me at younger ages and I developed a habit of totally ignoring its existence, and as a PK I was so enveloped by the religious music that I just don't want to hear it any longer. I do like June Christy's album though, and ironically Bob Dylan's. I'll look for Dearie's when it's the season again.
  11. Well, I splurged on a copy of the early cd of "Take 5, Live At Basin Street." Very good release. Hopefully one of these days they'll reissue it on cd. (Yeah, right!)
  12. EMI recently reissued the Hall and Lewis/Perkins. I have the former and it sounds fantastic. Maybe they'll reissue all the items that were in this box. That would be the way to go; I think the recent EMI reissues sound great.
  13. I actually have that Ronnie Scott cd around here and don't remember what it sounds like, I need to remedy that. I like Blossom a lot. I have probably most of what's out on cd, and forget to listen to her more often. There's so much stuff. . . something always gets neglected. Nice that she has a "corner."
  14. I was traveling to Ohio to be with my folks for four days centered around a partial mastectomy performed on my mom due to the discovery of a cancerous lump. All that went well, but now she faces four weeks of radiation, possibly followed by chemotherapy. The whole situation has been pretty stressful for my Dad. He had some stroke like symptoms a few weeks ago, that ultimately they don't believe was a stroke; he was at the hospital with my Mom for her last pre-operative appointment when it happened. They're both 79. This is going to be a pretty tough time. My previous experience with cancer care has made it rather hard for me to be hopeful and positive. . . but I'm doing my best.
  15. Not as interesting as one might think. It's sort of schizophrenic, not cohesive. An overview of the "re-emergence tour" of '74 with The Band, with a sprinkling of rabbinic and extra-rabbinic thought to prop up a rather flimsy argument that Dylan is really following a Jewish singer/poet tradition with more intent than I believe likely.
  16. I was able to hear it on NPR's First Listen and it was pretty good. NPR, actually, did a decent job of presenting it, 'cause I also heard a track from it on NPR radio a few weeks back. Really went well with driving now that I think about it. I love finding "driving" albums. Don't know about the driving part as I only drive a motorcycle and don't listen to music while driving, but this is a great new release in my opinion. Very well recorded also. I read a recommendation here and gave this one a shot. Pretty decent.
  17. Spent a lot of time traveling and sitting in hospital waiting rooms this week; read three books. Just started part one of a trilogy
  18. Believe.
  19. Many many more happy returns Allen!
  20. Many many happy returns!
  21. Jouyeux anniversaire!
  22. Yes, The Good Wife.. . building to a nice season conclusion. Now watching "Witchblade," a series from a comic book that doesn't have much going for it but does have a lead character, a woman homicide detective, that rides a motorcycle (and a Buell at that!)
  23. Start with the Golden Gizmo. It's fun.
  24. Yes Jim, glad to hear that you're healthier and happier, and thanks for opening up this discussion.
  25. Many many happy happy returns!
