  1. I haven't seen many of the other movies . . . not that much of a Star Trek fan I confess. Drove up to Waco today because the weather was good and saw this movie there. (Drove to San Antonio yesterday and saw Ghosts of Girlfriends Past which I enjoyed.) I'm down with J. J. and I think he did a good job. I'm glad to see it all reinvented. SPOILER: I hate that they brought in one of the original characters and hate the whole method they used to "make this all new again." Trite, silly, dumb. I wish they'd just introduced the new staff as they did and gone on with it. That's a big beef I have with this one. But I DID like the backstories of the characters, I did like the environment. I hope they take it somewhere new. (Enough of Klingons and Romulans etc. They can always get to those later.)
  2. You'll never forget them, you'll have them within your memories. That's how I feel about my late wife. I think of her everyday, and I'm very happy to have had her in my life and to have her still here within me.
  3. I'm a big Henry Miller fan, I think his writing is important to American literature. I like the Sexus/Plexus/Nexus trilogy better than the two Tropics. I really like two posthumous releases, Moloch, and Crazy Cock. I'm also a big fan of less "fictional" more "opinionated" works like The Books in my Life, The Colossus of Marousi, and The Air Conditioned Nigthtmare.
  4. Welcome. . .back?

  5. I'm glad it's over. I liked it when it first appeared, but tired of it soon enough. Pretty amazing that ABC brought it back to life. . . and then quickly snuffed it.
  6. I personally have no reason to doubt what youmustbe says and from what I've read between the lines I would believe it to be true. As you say, we get sanitized stories. I know (even just shallowly) a few people "of note" or "of import" and I know them to be crusty and/or many things that aren't "clean and safe." I don't mind keeping it real.
  7. Lots of Muddy Waters' songs were really written by Morgan McKinleyfield.
  8. Don't think so. Haven't seen the Unusuals (not really a fan of animated movies) but. . . I don't think so. Started watching Lois and Clark, Season 4
  9. That's how he was in Austin as well. I'll never forget his pacing all over the stage, shrunken somewhat but full of energy and love of playing.
  10. Really should add a little refried beans for the real experience. AND to get that corn-bean protein going if you're using corn tortillas. Now I'm hungry.
  11. Those old films don't do much for me. And to be honest Jim, no I wouldn't Kelly. I'm very "satisfied" these days and she's very far from my type. Alexander, I like my women curvier and curvier. . .but haven't gotten that far along the path yet.
  12. Tessa B. Dick, "The Owl in Daylight."
  13. I've only called them once, ever!
  14. With our luck they'll come out as 128 kps MP3s for 20 buck each.
  15. Me either. As far as skinny tv starlets go, I"m a big Eva Longoria fan. I'm sure she would annoy many. . .but I don't think she'd annoy me.
  16. Jay, thanks for the headsup on the Vi Velasco; nice lp!
  17. Nice guitars, though I'm not sure I'd like Tolex or Mother of Pearl top finishes. Kind of Gibson, kind of Gretsch. Good idea to have a nice P90 and a nice Humbucker both on a guitar.
  18. Sounds like you got it down. Should be good eatin'. . . . . Don't let any of the butter spatter on Rosario.
  19. I just have the old one of Heavy Weather. I really don't listen to that album much, having heard it so much in the seventies and eighties. I think the mastering is "okay" on the first one. Would buy a new one if I could.
  20. Many many more happy returns!
  21. I'm sure there's just the old mastering.
  22. I'm retrogressing. . .watching Miller movies made me do it.
