Goooooooooooooooooooooooooool
Cliff Englewood replied to Van Basten II's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Agreed, I just wish we hadn't made so many careless passes and allowed Spain to relentlessly attack us. When our young forwards (Altidore and Davies) weren't needlessly giving the ball away, our midfielders (especially Bradley and Clark) were putting two or three times the necessary weight on their through balls. I'm sure everyone on the squad was in a festive mood after that match, but if I were one of our defenders, I would have had a hard time resisting the urge to strangle somebody. Brazil certainly looked beatable yesterday vs S.A. Somehow I doubt they're going to look that way on Sunday. Anyway, I just hope the U.S. does better when it comes to possessing the ball, and that they continue to at least create some good chances from the run of play. That's a good point and the thing to remember about playing a team like Spain, or indeed just playing Spain, as there are very few teams like them in the world at the moment, is that you are not going to have the ball very much anyway, no matter how good or bad you are in possesion, they are always going to have the ball more than you because everyone in that team is so skillful and so comfortable on the ball they rarely give it away. I have always liked Clint Dempsey, I see a good bit of him as he plays for Fulham, not a star man by any means but very honest and a real team player, never gives up either. I haven't watched Brazil at all but it should be a good final, nothing to lose for the US anyway. -

new Neil Young retrospective-Archives Vol. 1

I have 'Time Fades Away' on that old black plastic stuff, what do you call it??????? Anyway it's good, but not really deserving of it's reputation as a lost masterpiece, but it goes very well with "On The Beach" and "Tonight's The Night", the later is still my favorite Neil. -
Yes, "New York Calling" is worth checking out if you see it cheap, although I seem to remember that McLean pretty much takes a back seat on it, lets the young 'uns, including Rene, take the lead.

Well done to the USA, they just wanted it more than Spain last night, really excellent performance and a great work rate from the whole team. -

I probably would have been more interested in this when I first heard about it, what 10, 15 years ago. I've read a few reviews and they were very much pro but looking at the track listing I don't know. If you're a major Neil fan you'll get this but if you're a major Neil fan you'll probably have or at least heard most of it anyway. I'll pass. -

Jonathan, that is one of the best descriptions of Marsh's music I have ever read, talk about hitting the nail on the head!!! I have to admit I would still be slightly pessimistic about something like this coming out, not due to lack of quality or lack of effort, but purely down to economics and such in these horrible times, but I would love to be proved wrong. :D Good luck and please post any updates.

I didn't watch the South Africa v Iraq because I knew it would be pants but the New Zealand v Spain game was kinda entertaining, the Torres hatrick in 11 minutes was pretty good, but you couldn't really expect much more from NZ. -

Agreed and he's good mates with Torres as well, he would have been perfect for Liverpool, but alas :rcry The real reason Ronaldo went to Real (enough r's for ye) Endorsements block a 'major factor' in Ronaldo's move to Real Madrid How the mighty have fallen; Agents offer Michael Owen to clubs with help of 34-page brochure -

Yea, he definitely wants to go there as well. The last Galacticos era didn't end all that well which is why Real are in the position they are in now. -

It's totally nuts, I didn't think that one would go through to be honest, but it looks like it was all set-up last year. Some good articles here; guardian.co.uk/football -
And I thought that the "David S. Ware needs a new kidney" thread should have been posted in "Offering and Looking For... "
-
And listing who died in the Artists thread isn't??? For me it would be a different deal seeing RIP every time I saw the Forums. Just my opinion. You wouldn't have to call it RIP.

I suggested this a while back, can't find the thread/post now, and no one was into it. I still think it's a good idea. :tup

Yes it's very good and if you have difficulty tracking down the single cd it's available on this fairly recently re-issued 2-fer. This is the one I would love to get; Nobody Else But Me I've got that last one! And it's good! (I've got to warn you though that I don't have a Getz album that I dislike.) Oh I have no problem believing it's good, I have a few other live recordings by this particular group and I would love to get this one, the Amazon prices are a bit nuts, I know I'll get it somewhere in the end though.

Does anyone know/and or Have any of the 3 cd
Cliff Englewood replied to BERIGAN's topic in Recommendations
I'm fairly sure I've seen the Ellington in one or two shops over here, next time I'm in the City I'll have a look. -

That's a pity, it'll make that belated mid-life crisis a bit more difficult to pursue, I mean the leather jacket will be totally redundant for a start. I'm not going to take the bait. I'm just ignoring your silly comments from now on. Absolutely, take the high moral ground, it's your natural home.
