  1. I never followed him that much, but always liked this album.
  2. Definitely one of the more interesting and unique bands to come along in the last 50 years. I got to see them 3 times: in 1974 and then two times in 2009 performing The Royal Scam (once with Larry Carlton sitting in).
  3. VERY nice!
  4. I thought the New Directions band was an excellent combination of personalities. Unfortunate that they only recorded 2 albums (AFAIK).
  5. RIP, John! Another interesting project that he played with.
  6. Not exactly "ice cream," but ...
  7. Saw him just a few months ago. Very entertaining set, and his drummer Mark Guiliana was impressive, too!
  8. Hard to say, but top 5 (in no particular order) would be: Gerald Wilson, Blue Mitchell, Donald Byrd/Pepper Adams, Larry Young, Thad Jones
  9. Awwwwwwwww ... THANKS, man!
  10. At the end of Scott's note about the Chick Webb video he says: "Stay tuned for more Teddy Wilson on Mosaic!!" Since it's kind of buried, hard to know if that statement still holds true.
  11. I used to see him around SF in the 70s-80s and saw the premier of "Fool For Love" at the Magic Theatre w/Ed Harris and Kathy Baker in '83. I liked his work a lot - both as a playwright and actor.
  12. Got it yesterday - that was FAST!

    Yo La Tengo

Fakebook is mostly acoustic covers ... but good! New Wave Hot Dogs and President are 2 of my favs, but very different from Painful. The Prisoners of Love collection is excellent, too.

    Yo La Tengo

There are sort of two Yo La Tengos - the first 4-5 albums, and all the ones after. The earlier albums are definitely more garage-y.
  15. Oops! Missed that one!

    Yo La Tengo

They're teaming up with Robyn Hitchcock to perform his first album "Black Snake Diamond Role" at the Fillmore in September. I would DEFINITELY go but unfortunately I'm going to be out of town.
  17. Now streaming on NPR. John Scofield Performs 'Quiet And Loud Jazz'
  18. I still use my Nano. It works great, holds LOTS of tunes and takes up practically NO space. Also, it saves me from draining my phone battery.
  19. Ordered the t-shirt and CD bundle. THANKS!
  20. It's a little hard to find, for sure. I just had a packaging issue and couldn't match the pre-sets to get the answer I wanted. I finally got to a place where I could send an email and they responded in less than 12 hours. It was definitely a human response, because the item was no longer in stock and they gave me some options for a refund or replace with a 3rd party seller. They were surprisingly helpful.
  21. Mine arrived yesterday. Looking forward to this one.
  22. Douglas Edwards: a "vintage" CBS news reporter.
  23. I've had the Hartman album since it came out and it's one of his strongest dates, IMO.
