  1. Some of my favorite Clifford is the mid-70s "Magic Triangle" stuff with Cedar Walton, Sam Jones, Billy Higgins. There are some nice live dates out there.
  2. Amazing to think that's 45 years ago! To put that in perspective, the top 5 hits of 1925 (45 years before 1970) were: Ben Bernie, Sweet Georgia Brown Vernon Dalhart, The Prisoner's Song Bessie Smith, St Louis Blues Ma Rainey, See See Rider Blues Marion Harris, Tea For Two
  3. Here's the info: Freedom: Atlanta Pop Festival
  4. I'll probably have to go in for both, too.
  5. There's a new video and CD coming out from Jimi's appearance at the Atlanta Pop Festival. Stone Free is being streamed right now on the Daily Beast. The video will be premiered on Showtime, Sept 4. I know some of this material was released in a festival 3LP set back in the 70s, but I haven't heard anything else. If this track is any indication, then it's "blistering"! (as they say in the article)
  6. Analog Africa Goes Emusic: A fun collection of vintage African pop/jazz/dance music on eMusic. Total Tracks: 22, Total Length: 91:27 for $5.99
  7. Stuff sucks! I have the same problem.
  8. OK - I never got that Sinuous Guitar. My self-control kicked into gear. I've now moved on to Bohemian "oil can" Guitars. They have unique builds, would definitely be conversation pieces and play surprisingly well. I got to see and play one at SXSW. They're not necessarily 'pro-quality' instruments, but they're not built or priced to be. On top of everything else, they're bargain-priced ($185) with significant extras and pickup customization if you pre-order on the crowd-funding site, Indigogo. I ordered one - why NOT?? Disclaimer: I have no financial stake in these at ALL. Bohemian Guitars The Boho Series 2.0 - Indiegogo
  9. Just noticed that Pop Market has MILES DAVIS - THE COMPLETE COLUMBIA ALBUMS COLLECTION for $269.99. Not bad for 52 albums on 70 CDs in mini LP replica jackets
  10. Probably has something to do with the licensing rights.
  11. I've never seen her live, but she's definitely someone to pay attention to. Jenny seems to have a wide range of interests and gets involved in some interesting collaborations.
  12. It isn't true. Jericho Isn't Cecil's Brother And Is Probably Still Alive, Lion Researcher Says
  13. Definitely.........and by association, the Carmell Jones Select.
  14. Unfortunately 'big game' hunting happens all the time, it just usually doesn't make the news. I see posts on FB with pictures like this of creeps with their dead elephants, giraffes, puma cougars more often than I care to think. I'm glad this has sparked such a big outcry, though. Maybe it will make these people stop and think about what they're doing (but I doubt it).
  15. Friday - not jazz: Ray Wylie Hubbard w/special guest Bob Livingston Freight & Salvage, Berkeley
  16. I have 10: 1) Grachan Moncur III 2) Carmell Jones 4) Randy Weston 6) John Patton 7) Curtis Amy 16) Andrew Hill 20) Charles Tolliver 24) Tony Williams 26) Bobby Hutcherson 33) Toshiko Akiyoshi-Lew Tabakin
  17. It might have something to do with the overall depressed market for CDs, too.
  18. Well, it IS part of the "Bootleg Series."
  19. I was just noticing how few Selects and Singles are still available. It's too bad because I think both had their place in the Mosaic catalog, but I guess they just weren't profitable. In the meantime I ordered Art Farmer "The Time And The Place." I didn't realize how special that album was until I read the blurb, and that music probably won't be available again once it's gone. I haven't heard any of it, but look forward to getting it.
  20. Carmell Jones Select, disk 1 I always forget how good this set is!
  21. I can't imagine seeing Miles at the KK. It was such a SMALL club and must have been amazing to be there. Having said that, I was very fortunate to have seen many other great artists there from 1974-82.
  22. Here's an image of Miles at the KK from Todd's website
  23. 1970 Peter Green edition live sets. Although issued before, I've heard great things about the remastering of this stuff.
