  1. Just adding that to my other gripes about jewel cases. Glad you like them, Dolan!
  2. That may be, but you shouldn't even have to do that. Just one more annoying aspect of the dreaded jewel case.
  3. Dolan, do you sharped your fingernails in the morning?
  4. My other beef with jewel cases is removing the shrink wrap - our should I say, ATTEMPTING to remove the shrink wrap.
  5. I watched that video you put up. That guitarist from Beardfish is definitely a nice add.
  6. Jewel cases were one of the worst packaging designs ever! All that plastic nonsense for a product that was originally hyped as indestructible and scratch-proof. I'm happy that many newer releases come in cardboard covers - much like vinyl. Should have been packaged that way from the beginning.
  7. Downloaded Big Big Train's "Wassail" today. Good stuff and reminds me a LOT of Syd Arthur ... if they recruited Phil Collins to sing (but I won't hold that against them).
  8. Sounds interesting. Will check them out.
  9. I don't think he's not going to get much auction action at that starting price. If he wants $2,200, then he should list them as "Buy It Now".
  10. I asked someone who should know, and he's pretty sure the video would be in the correct order.
  11. Picked up a ticket today for tonight's "Zappa Plays Zappa" show. It's been on my calendar for a while, but I kept putting off getting tickets. There was a good deal on StubHub for a floor seat, so I jumped on it. Should be great - they're doing "One Size Fits All", one of my favorite FZ albums! [Later] Great show! Besides the album, they did quite a few other tunes that I never thought I would see live including: Zombie Woof Cosmik Debris Apostrophe Grand Wazoo Montana Baby Snakes Dancin' Fool Muffin Man ... and a number of others.
  12. Ohhhh, I thought it was London. I'll put it on the calendar and maybe we can schedule an East Coast trip then.
  13. That would be nice to see. Any other scheduled exhibitions besides NYC and London? It would be nice if it makes a West Coast stop.
  14. I never got that European Tours box and forgot all about it. I need to put it on my "to get" list.
  15. Yeah - that's the bottom line. I don't listen to the last "Deluxe" version much, so ... I'm still on the fence.
  16. oh, well...............ONE of these days I'm gonna win this thing!
  17. Saw a very good show at the John Berggruen Gallery in downtown SF yesterday. It's a 45 Year Retrospective of A-list art that he assembled from pieces loaned by his clients. Very impressive. LOOKING BACK: 45 YEARS
  18. Thanks everyone! Had a nice day yesterday ... and now I don't have to "worry" about it again for another year!
  19. I had no plans to get this latest release because I have the 2002 "Deluxe Edition" RVG 2-disk Impulse release which is described as the "definitive edition" (for what that's worth). Honestly, I'm not all that concerned about missing out on a couple of additional alt takes, if that's the only difference. But if the audio is significantly improved, that's another matter altogether.
  20. I used to save all my catalogs, but decided to recycle them when we moved 5 years ago.
  21. A couple of weeks ago I went to the Whitney Museum in NYC. In the bookstore I saw a display of Mosaic Armstrong and Ellington boxes in support of their show "Archibald Motley: Jazz Age Modernist." I thought that was pretty hip of them. I wonder if they worked up a deal with Mosaic for that.
  22. Got mine yesterday. Kind of sad to see Selects and Singles reduced to one page each. I also noticed on the cover it says: "Annual Edition: 2015"
  23. There's a website called the Internet Archive that has a page called the "Wayback Machine." You can search for old websites that the organization has been archiving for many years. You might give that a try.

    Mark Murphy RIP

His version of Sconsoloto is great! On this album - worth picking up, for sure.
