Yes, keeping the horizon line straight can be a challenge. And you do get some odd effects when there is movement in the scene, like the animal and the girls in the left side of this S. Kensington shot.

Nice! I'm constantly amazed at how well (and easily) the iPhone shoots Pano shots.

Saw Eric at the Royal Albert Hall last Saturday and he didn't disappoint. I was concerned because I know that many of his shows over the past several years have been known to be lackluster and inconsistent. This show had a minimum of clunkers and more highlights that I could have expected. The strongest piece came totally out of the blue - "I Shot the Sheriff". Never one of my favorites, but he and the band really nailed it. I'm sure that playing at the RAH had something to do with the energy, as well. I've read that it's his favorite venue.

Haven't heard this yet, but I'm sure it's worth getting: NOTHING MORE: THE COLLECTED FOTHERINGAY

Just got back from London. Saw both the Diebenkorn and Delaunay shows as well as a great Sargent exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery that we were lucky to catch just before it ended. All were excellent, and highlights of the trip. Sargent: Portraits of Artists and Friends

Trader Joe's has a good organic unsweetened soy milk. I suspect it might be made by the same people who make Whole Foods' version because they taste the same to me.

Saw Michael Tilson Thomas 'conduct' "Renga" tonight. Very interesting and entertaining, including narration throughout by Tim Robbins of the "Lecture on Nothing". Pretty hard to explain the structure of this piece, but there were musicians spread beyond the stage into the seating areas and there was a multi-media component consisting of 50s-era film clips and commercials. A featured performer was someone playing "amplified cactus" (which sounded great, btw). An in-depth description can be found in the program notes here: CAGE: Renga

Those look like good prices to me, although more like 20% cheaper than you can get them from Amazon.

I hardly drink milk anymore, except on cereal. I somehow developed a lactose intolerance a few years ago and switched to unsweetened soy milk, and honestly can't even tell the difference.

An astounding evening of music. Intense and complex and definitely NOT for the casual jazz fan. But a full house and very enthusiastic and they played for nearly 2 hours. As mentioned earlier in this thread, "This trio combines perhaps the three leading exponents/practitioners of the traditions/approaches of the three great centers of free/out music (Chicago, New York, Berlin-London)" - I couldn't have said it better. A 'must-see' for SURE! -

I'm nearly twice that age (I said 'nearly' - haha) and have never spent MORE time looking for new music. It doesn't even have to be "new", just something I haven't heard before. I think I would go crazy if I ONLY listened to the same stuff I loved when I was young.
