  4. Hey, Agggggg, they'll be here on Feb 26 - appropriately at a club called "The Chapel". Come on OUT!
  5. That's the price for a "Badge", although it's a little higher now (but not a lot) than if you purchased one last Fall. There is a "wristband" program that's cheaper, but you have to be an Austin resident to get one directly. There might be 3rd party sellers of these, though. Here's the link, anyway: SXSW Wristbands. FYI, SXSW began as a conference for the Indie music industry, and still is at its core. That's why the badge pass is so expensive. Besides the shows, you also have access to panel discussions, workshops and trade shows. Over the past several years it's expanded BIG TIME and there are LOTS of events with bands all over Austin that are not 'officially' part of the conference. Many of them are free, or have cover charges at the door, but not being part of the organized event you have to do some research to find out where and when they are. You can definitely have a good time there without the badge. You can even get into some of the SXSW sponsored shows, but most of the performances are in relatively small venues and the chances of getting in are slim.
  6. That's a helluva weekend, kh!
  7. Something very different for me, I'm going to the SF Symphony on Sunday for this: MTT CONDUCTS THE SOLDIER’S TALE A trusting soldier. A violin. And a deal with the devil. Watch and hear the adventure unfold, when Michael Tilson Thomas conducts Stravinksy’s The Soldier’s Tale, a unique work for orchestra that mixes vibrant music, dialogue, and theatrics. Music legend Elvis Costello narrates the story of how a young soldier comes to trade his violin, win riches beyond his imagination, and compete with the Devil, played by critically-acclaimed actor Malcolm McDowell. Just announced! John Adams will open this program, conducting his dynamic composition Grand Pianola Music.
  8. Do they have a full stage set or something? They had a semi truck parked next to the theater for a couple of days.
  9. Here's a chance to pick up Les Paul's original "Les Paul Black Beauty" prototype. Price 'might' be at a premium, though. Guernsey's Auctioneers
  10. ... and I repeat:

  12. How about Philly on May 28, Aggggggggggg?
  13. Got my tix today. Now I just have to wait until....................JUNE 14!!
  14. There were others in this series on Contemporary, too.
  15. That's convenient for me, I work across the street from the Wiltern Theater. That IS convenient!
  16. You guys know about this? Steven Wilson – Hand. Cannot. Erase. USA Tour 2015 Tix go on sale for the SF show on Friday. Very reasonably priced, too!
  17. Nothing like the sound of a real spring reverb when you rock it back and forth!
  18. Oh, right - I was wondering who the bass player was.
  19. Nice stuff! I generally like to play with a little overdrive and a hint of reverb. Unfortunately, I'm also a SUCKER for pedals ... of all sorts - not that I use them that much. But it's fun to play with them every once in a while and they DO look "cool" lined up on the floor. Also, I don't spend a lot, but track sale prices on MF and Sweetwater, both of which periodically have deep discounts on select items. It helps me justify my 'addiction'.
