  2. RIP for sure! I last saw him do a solo performance at Big Ears 2019. One of the best shows of the weekend.
  3. Great song, though!
  4. Saw her last month with an expanded ensemble including a horn section
  5. Apparently it's going to be in that "new" venue, which is an old Greyhound Bus station near the Mill & Mine
  6. Love Dance and Double Exposure are indeed about to be released. A friend received preview copies. I think this series is only being released on LP. I would love to get a CD of Double Exposure ... someday.
  7. I got caught up in the Deadhead thing a bit in the 70s. Saw them several times, but started losing interest later in the decade.
  8. AGGGGGGGG - Oh, yeah ... we had some WILD live chats there for a short period of time!
  9. Thanks! I'm a March 8, 2003 guy Just like John L, I was on the Blue Note Board, Jazz Corner, and Jazz Central Station before here
  10. Pretty sure I started about the same time everyone else came over here

    Carla Bley

I would like to see her at Big Ears, but her time slot is pretty crowded with other artists I want to see. It will probably be a last-minute decision.
  12. Depends on your taste in music. If you're interested in jazz that's a little outside, these labels are pretty strong: Intakt, Clean Feed, Pyroclastic (Independent record label led by Kris Davis)
  13. Been a bit fan of theirs since the beginning, too. All the new boxes are also great! Saw them last month here in SF, too.
  14. Can't go wrong with Big John! Was listening to some John Hicks today: Rhythm-A-Ning (w/Kenny Barron, Walter Booker, Jimmy Cobb), and Power Trio (w/Elvin & McBee) Tonight's listen
