  1. I saw that show, too! (also Chuck and Randy)
  2. Yes. Interesting. Different than his earlier stuff. Worth checking out. This covers album was good, too
  3. New album from S. London band, Dry Cleaning
  4. Don't know their music, but was lucky to "see" them (they were completely backlit) at the Big Ears Festival in 2018. I'll check out that album .
  5. Maserati "Inventions for the New Season"
  6. Me, too!
  7. Interesting announcement from SFJAZZ and probably the biggest single artist turnover. There are usually only one or two changes per year. Also, the addition of a vocalist is an interesting development. +++ We are excited to announce new members of the award-winning SFJAZZ Collective – saxophonist and Music Director Chris Potter, vocalist Lizz Wright, bassist/vocalist Aneesa Strings, and drummer Kendrick A.D. Scott. This lineup will explore the music of legendary singer/ songwriter Joni Mitchell, who received the 2015 SFJAZZ Lifetime Achievement Award, with a forthcoming studio album set for release in Fall of 2021, followed by touring in the Spring of 2022. Formed in 2004, SFJAZZ Collective lineup will also include returning members — tenor saxophonist David Sánchez, trumpeter Etienne Charles, vibraphonist Warren Wolf, and pianist Edward Simon. Over their fifteen-year existence, the SFJAZZ Collective has included 27 members who have penned 110 original compositions and 115 arrangements. 2021-22 SFJAZZ COLLECTIVE LINEUP Chris Potter music director, tenor & soprano saxophones David Sánchez tenor saxophone Etienne Charles trumpet Warren Wolf vibraphone Edward Simon piano Aneesa Strings bass & vocals Kendrick A.D. 8. A couple of recent alt bands. One from the West Coast and the other from NY.
  9. Looks like a must-have! Especially coming on the heels of The Free Slave.
  10. Pretty much agree about the Roxy band - for technical excellence at the very least. Don't have a particular soft spot for F&E except for "Another Band from LA" because I was at that show. Every version of Zappa's bands have their own unique traits, though.
  11. First time I saw him was in '79 at the KK with Hilton. Also right after Amsterdam After Dark - one of his best. The first Eastern Rebellion is a classic of the era, too.
  12. Agreed that their music has held up well and also about Morrissey who hasn't. Johnny Marr has done a much better job of keeping the spirit of the Smiths alive, as well as releasing a few good solo albums along the way. I've seen him a number of times in concert, too - always good.
  13. Probably never happen, but I'd love to see this album with Larry Young reissued by someone.
  14. Saw them today. Good show!
