  1. What's THIS? Be Bop Deluxe - Live! In The Air Age 1970-1973 (Ltd Edition 15CD+DVD Box) - I wasn't into them back in the day, but thought I would check them out recently. Then THIS was just released, and is available on most streaming services: 131 songs, 14 hours and 40 minutes of music
  2. I think if this was just a reissue of the 3CD set, then probably not worth it. But this set is more about all the additional tracks. The band was really on fire.
  3. Porcupine Tree ‎"In Absentia"
  4. Saw them in NYC a couple of times back in 85
  5. I just listened to the DFs a couple of days ago. Hadn't heard them in a LONG time and I forgot how good they were.
  6. Some interesting extra tracks on this set. Some remixed without the horns, and a couple where Robbie updated his guitar solos.
  7. Yes. Official, of course.
  8. For those on the fence regarding the new mastering, that's trivial compared to the content of this set. If you like Lee and this group, and you like LIVE Lee (none other exists with him as *leader*) then it's a no-brainer. It's 8 CDs and no two performances are alike. And they didn't phone it in, I can tell you that.
  9. If you like Tolliver, this is a must-have
  10. The Grass Roots definitely had a ton of radio hits (and some were quite good!), but their bio is complicated. Here's a reasonably decent overview from AllMusic. The Grass Roots - Biography
  11. For those on the fence, listen to the WBGO podcast about it.
  12. The last track in the set, Nommo, is as impressive as anything I've heard yet
  13. Haven't heard that in years. Great album!
  14. Don't remember if this WBGO podcast was posted already, but it's an excellent analysis and discussion about the set, and Lee at this late stage in his career. Lee Morgan's Most Dynamic Band is Revealed in Full on a Staggering New Boxed Set Jazz United with Greg Bryant and Nate Chenin
  15. She streamed a Stones tribute last year and appeared to be OK. I was hooked on them early and got all their albums (and saw their tours) up through Passion Play. After that, Ian sort of ran out of new ideas and I lost interest. Although his 2000 release "The Secret Language of Birds" is very interesting.
  16. Correct. And less than half of the tunes on that "Complete" version.
  17. I have the Sunset Eyes CD that was reissued in the Pacific Jazz West Coast Classics series. It has 3 'bonus tracks'.
  18. Exactly! 😎👍 No harm in asking 😎 Not familiar with King Britt. What can you tell me?
  19. This astounding festival just popped into in my inbox. I already bought a series ticket. I've been aware of it in the past but I don't think it has ever been so jazz-centric. Bonus for me: the venue is 3 blocks from where I live Other Minds Festival 25
