I still remember how it slipped from my hands and as a I tried to catch it I pushed it against the wall which made even more scratches. Side B was destroyed. I love this music so much that I decided to replace it with a clean copy. Great stuff. On the Nile 🥰 I've dropped one or two over the years. I've definitely had a few covers fall and get banged, which is always a drag. Quote

JSngry Posted September 17, 2023 Report Posted September 17, 2023 I broke 3 copies of Ray Charles 78 of "Greenbacks" without ever getting to play one. That was all the shop had. I took the hint and tacked the remaining label portion of the last one over the inside of my bedroom closet as some kind of reverse-energy talisman. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted September 17, 2023 Report Posted September 17, 2023 Frank - Come Fly with Me - (UK Capitol, mono) The superior mono recording. The UK album replaces "On the Road to Mandalay" with "It Happened in Monterey," because of copyright issues. Quote

mjazzg Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 Xhosa Cole Quartet - K(no)w Them, K(no)w Us [Stoney Lane Records, UK 2021] I like this more evrey time I play it. More straightahead than many of his contemporaries' recordings. Will be seeing him in an improv quartet at Cafe Oto soon Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted September 21, 2023 Report Posted September 21, 2023 Just arrived, spinning now - Joshua Redman - Where Are We (Blue Note). I ordered the special clear vinyl with the signed poster. Nice presentation. Dead quiet vinyl (so far) and very well recorded. I wish i was more of a fan of Jazz vocalists but even after saying this, Gabriella Cavassa is OK. Blue Note is rather annoying in not offering a digital download when one purchases an expensive LP copy. I usually order from Amazon for this very reason, but chose to go with Blue Note for the signed print. https://store.bluenote.com/products/joshua-redman-where-are-we?variant=42458759004351 Quote

I think my biggest issue with her on this release is that it sounds like it should be Gabriella Cavassa - Where Are We and not Joshua Redman - Where Are We. To my ears, any time a vocalist is part of a band for every track, they are pretty much the leader. For jazz that is... Quote
