peterintoronto Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 These sound just great. The samples on the CAM site aren't an accurate representation of these sets. Quote
webbcity Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 I'm a little late to the party here, but count me in as someone who would love to see boxes from David Murray, Mal Waldron, Max Roach, Muhal Richard Abrams... Excited to see the Lester Bowie & Cecil Taylor boxes coming...! Quote

sidewinder Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 I am excited about the Russell. I have some of these on vinyl. True I've got mixed feelings about them, but I think the set will be an excellent opportunity to think about Russell again. It will be a good price, I expect, and I am looking forward to it. This one is definitely on my short list. Don't have any of the albums. Quote

king ubu Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 9CD, not 3... the Threadgill was 7. Same format I guess indeed. Quote

tranemonk Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 thank you.. much better I merged the threads about the Black Saint/Soul Note box sets to keep all info and opinions in one place. Quote
Van Basten II Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) The scale of price is a bit out of whack , 23 Euros for the Bowie 3 cd set, while for the Taylor who has two more cds is 25 Euros. For those wondering, talking about FNAC, found it on Amazon France with prices ranging from the Bowie at 18 Euros to Russell at 31. Edited July 9, 2010 by Van Basten II Quote
Niko Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 yes, that's weird, french amazon has prices of 16,95 18,95 19,95 30,45 which is similar (but a good deal nicer), similar relations at amazon.de (but add 15-20 Euro to the price...) still waiting for grooves-inc prices (Threadgill set is labeled sold out on the label's hompage btw) Quote
Van Basten II Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) So far neither Grooves or Cam Jazz have annonced any pricing. Ordering all four from Amazon France is costing 89 Euros shipping included, remember I'm a Canuck. Edited July 9, 2010 by Van Basten II Quote
king ubu Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 I wouldn't bother about the prices - they're great, even 23€ for a 3CD set is pretty much ok in my book! Quote
peterintoronto Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I wouldn't bother about the prices - they're great, even 23€ for a 3CD set is pretty much ok in my book! Agreed! And CAM got them from Italy to Canada in 4 days! Quote
brownie Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 These four boxes will be out later this week... The four new boxes will be out later this week... Quote
jazzbo Posted August 24, 2010 Report Posted August 24, 2010 I just got an email that my four sets have shipped from amazon.fr Quote

jazzbo Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Got my sets yesterday. These sound just amazing, as great a remastering job as the last batch. Quote
king ubu Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Gee, you got them and I'm still waiting?! Also ordered from amazon.fr?I guess you've got the freedom fries bonus... (while I got the IRS malus, or some such...) Quote
PHILLYQ Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Any place these are available besides Dusty and Amazon.fr? Camjazz doesn't even list them! Thanks Quote
peterintoronto Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 I emailed CAM to ask if they were going to be selling this batch of the direct like they did for the first sets. I didn't hear anything back, which suggests they might be on vacation? Quote
jazzbo Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Well, I don't know what happened here, it seems as if they didn't print enough on the first run as they sent out a lot of pre-orders, and the sets are now "coming soon" in the same stores that just shipped quantities. I think before long there will be tons available. So far I really love the Russell box. . . wasn't too familiar with these, had heard just a few titles. I think the remastering in these sets really stands out. . . in a great way. Quote
David Ayers Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 These new sets are not even listed on UK websites yet, as far as I can see. I'm hoping they will be as they will likely come out cheaper with free shipping... Quote
