While some don´t like the album with Hampton Hawes, Bob Cranshaw and Klook (because Hamp plays Fender Rhodes), I like it very much. Also have the Gene Ammons album with the same rhythm section, and Dex and Cannonball sittin in on the last number..... 13 hours ago, Referentzhunter said: I love all that albums, late Trane, Pharoah, and of course very much Alice. I am very very much into the more spiritual side of our music.... Quote
jazzbo Posted August 31 Posted August 31 We got some rain overnight, but not a “storm,” so Tobi was not “upset.” That dog has become the centerpiece of our home, we’re so lucky we were able to take him when our neighbor went into assisted-living. A great dog, best either of us have ever had. Starting off this morning with Kurt Elling and the WDR Big Band, “In the Brass Palace” Big Shoulder cd Man, Kurt can sing. Quote

jazzbo Posted August 31 Posted August 31 (edited) On the way to and from my storage unit I listened to two cds from Universal Japan of Decca material by Jeri Southern: and She was a lovely lady with a lovely voice and distinct relaxed style. Edited August 31 by jazzbo Quote
Peter Friedman Posted August 31 Posted August 31 This is a terrific album. Lee Morgan plays as well, if not better, than on his many other recordings. The rest of the group is also in top form. With: Hank Mobley, Hank Jones, Doug Watkins & Art Taylor Quote

This though is a recently re-bought used copy as my original is somewhere in the back of a storage unit; this one does have the blue rectangle which just says "Dizzy Gillespie". . . . Quote

Rabshakeh Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Weather Report – Sportin' Life I think this is a really underrated record. It still sounds like alien music to me. 5 minutes ago, BFrank said: I have been on a Sylvie Courvoisier binge lately. She's amazing. Big fan here too. Quote
