It happened much more quickly than we expected--we thought she would live several more years at least.

She was a great pianist and fan of jazz, too:

Carole Fields Johnson 58, Indianapolis, died March 28, 2004. She was born in Indianapolis on March 22, 1946, daughter of Raymond and Jeannette Fields. Carole was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who inspired all those who knew her with her life-long love of learning, travel, faith, and family. She was a prosecuting attorney for Marion County for more than 20 years. Carole attended Hope College, earned her BA in English from Indiana University, and then achieved her JD from IU Law School. She was a member of the American Bar Association in Indiana and Texas, Phi Beta Kappa, and recently became a Deacon at Second Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Clark Johnson; sons, David Brent Johnson (Brenda McNellen), Christopher Johnson (Linda) and Michael Johnson (Julie); mother, Jeannette Fields Thompson; brother, Jerry Fields (Cheryl), and grandchildren, Trevor and Peyton Johnson. Services will be 10 am Thursday, April 1 at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center â“ Washington Park East, with calling on Wednesday, March 31 from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral center. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Burial: Washington Park East Cemetery. www.flannerbuchanan.com

Very sorry to hear this, my friend. My own mother passed away just a couple months ago, also at a relatively young age (69). My thoughts are with you today, as they will be in coming days, most definitely. I wish you and your family the very best during this difficult time.

Can't add anything to the above, other than to take care of yourself, and know that family and friends (and we Organissimites) can be a great source of support and strength.
