Sometimes I think I must have seen Miles 3 times in the 60s because I can't reconcile the images I have in my head of the events but I don't think I can have because he only appeared in the UK in 1960, 67 and 69 in the 60s

The 67 show was interesting because he was on a bill with an Archie Shepp group with Roswell Rudd and Grachan Moncur.

He went on first because apparently he refused to follow Archie Shepp

Too young to have seen Coltrane live. I could have seen Miles when he performed at the Jahrhunderthalle Frankfurt in the early 1970's but for reasons I cannot recall I didn't go. I saw Herbie Hancock with Headhunters in that venue in 1974, but by then I had my first VW car and a drivers licence.

I didn’t plan to play “Kind of Blue” today but the new 2 SACD set from Sony Japan arrived, and I couldn’t resist popping in the first disc, the stereo edition.

Sure sounds good.

Wow, I didn’t think it was released until yesterday! I’m waiting for mine to come in at cdJapan along with Newport 58 and the 3 Bluenotes. Did you get “Round Midnight” and “Milestones”? And, where do you order yours, if you don’t mine sharing?

I think I've read about that gig opposite Shepp (whose two-trombone quintet was really one of the great bands of the era).

I did get the MIlestones and Round Midnight Sony releases. I get all mine from cdjapan. I used the amazingly fast DHL service, the two I got yesterday were originally scheduled to arrive today but arrived yesterday.

Wow! My order says it’s still waiting for the 2 Sony ones. And, use the FedEx option.

How is CDJapan and the USPS handling tariffs on shipments to USA at this point? I can't keep up, and have resisted ordering from them because of the uncertaintly.

I think that depends on the shipper. I have used DHL the last few times and the tariffs seem to be factored into the shipping charge.

Yep, I was asleep at the wheel on these. They will ship day before or day of release for early pre-orders. Now I know I got the Baker’s Lounge Peterson so much quicker!

I order loose leaf green tea from a Japanese vendor near Osaka which uses DHL for international orders. The cost for trackable express international shipping is extremely reasonable even by domestic shipping standards, let alone international ones. They usually say orders will arrive in 4-8 days, but in my experience average transit time from Osaka to Houston is 2-3 days.

To answer if there is anything new on the reissued Plugged Nickel box set as already pointed out above. No, there is nothing new, but the hype sticker does say "extensive new liner notes and rare photgraphs". That's it. Do like the original box set sleeve compared to this one, but beggars can't be choosers.

If there is a spare original box set sleeve out there in the universe for sale, I will buy it.

Tangent, but speaking of Coltrane, what are the opinions on this set (if it has been talked about where (link))
