T.D. replied to mikeweil's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Really nice classical recital "When France meets America" tonight. French duet: Arthur Gautier (piano) and Emma Gergely (cello and mezzo-soprano) performing a mix of songs (some with cello) and piano/cello duets. Composers: Fauré, Massenet, Crumb, Debussy, Duparc, Ravel, Bolcom, Florence Price, Satie and Copland. Tomorrow: Indian (Hindustani) classical music, sitar duet with tabla. -

I saw Allison Au and her quartet at Hirut, which is sort of a restaurant that turns into a jazz club at 8 pm. It's my first time, which is a bit ironic, given that it is the only club of its nature on the East Side of Toronto, but I only just found out about it. -
Thanks for posting that link, Randy. AFAICT, it's the best available source of info on the enigmatic Dennis.

With both John Dennis and Walt Dickerson identified, it's a good time to share Walt's observations on John's too short life and career: Dark Forces Swing Blind Punches: Walt Dickerson interview, part 1

Glad it's back in print, but the new CD packaging looks a bit cruddier. Glad to have the one they put real time, money, and labor into.
