  2. Qobuz is running a nice sale on HighNote label. This includes quite a few Woody Shaw releases. CD quality downloads of Woody Shaw Live Vol. 1 - 4 are dirt cheap, $2.95 or $3.70, as are the two volumes of The Tour: $4.44 each.
  3. Where can others view these log books?
  4. Don't know. My CD set is 2 disks. Haven't read the extensive Ashley Kahn liners, though. Might be explained there?
  5. Excellent...
  6. About 1969 I read in Down Beat one of their writers (probably a columnist) refer to an incident, but he did not name names. A musician (I think a sax player) was mad at his employer, and intended to quit. So for his last performance, every note of every solo was the same note. One note for an entire set. Instead of ruining the performance as he expected, the crowd loved it and went wild. Does anybody know who the employee and employer were, and anything else about that anecdote?
  7. Have to confess, I’ve ever taken note of who was on drums on Black Narcissus before — and Humair has quite a discography it appears! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Humair
  8. Any memory of why the 2 editions ( single or double cd )?
  9. My fave is Horenstein on Chesky - 2 individual discs. Check the contents and see if one pleases you.

    Joe Henderson

What else makes it different is Daniel Humair!
  11. This is a wonderful collection of Karas's work. It contains the original version of the "Harry Lime Theme," along with other tracks from The Third Man. (There's even a really nice version of "Silent Night"!) If you like the movie, you'll love this disc.
  12. Looking for recommendations for a single CD of Strauss waltzes. Or Strauss-period waltzes. Target audience: casual classical music listeners who actually would like to dance to some waltzes. Fun over erudition!

  16. This is such a good album*. Disc 1 from the Mosaic (which starts with this album) includes the gorgeous "Barbara's Theme." * [I would've cut "My Funny Valentine" and substituted something else. That said...]
  17. I don't know. I got this last year. It might have been this one: https://www.qobuz.com/us-en/album/a-cool-yuletide-remastered-2018-urbie-green-and-his-all-stars/u0r1u4phv4kja BTW - I found this link in this thread:
  18. This has been re-pressed for anyone who slept on it the first time
  19. Riverside RLP 12-249 (Japan VIJJ-30016) - Kenny Drew Trio " Jazz Impressions of PAL JOEY" - rec. 1957 - Engineer: Jack Higgins

    Joe Henderson

Much love here for "Sideman Joe Meets The Rhythm Sections"
  22. One of Joe’s more underrated albums, imho, is his last one for Milestone in 1977 — Black Narcissus (rec. in 1974-76). His remakes of “Black Narcissus” and “Power to the People” are really interesting, in part because of Patrick Gleeson‘s electronics and synthesizers. (Not saying that alone makes the album great — but it is interesting and different for Joe.) So that — plus Joe’s playing, as always, is as engaging as ever. “Black Narcissus” “Power to the People”
