  1. A "Proper" Wolff job would be an almost complete collection of "hit or miss" prints and decent notes.
  2. "Hans the Spoiler" - think I read about him in European History years ago.
  3. I suggest Hamp and Getz.
  4. My first concern would be the material surrounding the cones - foam or rubber. Not sure about the JBLs but the "surrounds" can deteriorate and can be replaced. I recently inherited a pair of ADS/Braun speakers about 15-20 years old and they are fine.
  5. Hi Margaret. Thanks for the news.
  6. Lots of tension.
  7. Anybody here supervised the mastering of mono and stereo masters?
  8. So this isn't the gay guy with the exercise videos.
  9. He must have been working on something important.
  10. Nothing I recognized at the moment. The 1st half was a trio of Hill, Charles Clark and Thurman Barker. Roscoe and Ware were last minute subs for the 2nd half.
  11. Why a box? (Why a duck?) Why not more unissued single discs?
  12. First, if he doesn't make a dime that's his business, not ours. Interesting to know but not important in the end. Second, I'd say if he doesn't know something he'll imagine it and present it as fact. In the end he provides a good service but a big "grain of salt" is needed before fileing this stuff away as "truth".
  13. Nice piece - thank you. And to have heard the band in the photos... I was there.
  14. Ethan Iverson has a nice piece on the Bad Plus blog. He uses 2 photos from my friend Terry Martin. You can see it HERE.

  16. Just some crabs.
  17. For a week I lived with Basho in the next room. I could use that experience in a curse.
  18. Can't wait to hear what this group has to say on the subject. Can Barry Gordy overrule their decision?
  19. You mean this: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=31388 ?
  20. AND who did that? I never said anything like "hey dummy". As I explained, entering Patton in the search function brings up a bunch of stuff. Not that tough. This is an "organcentric" group and John Patton HAD to be discussed earlier. I use the "search function" a bunch and the number of threads needed to be read bugs me. Recently I've been searching for comments about Braxton's "Standards" recordings and it takes hours to sort this out.
  21. Sorry if I missed it but don't think anyone mentioned Earl Hines "At Home". It is a wonderful solo recording from his solo prime. Also lacking are recommendations of the "country" blues recordings of Big Joe Williams and Sleepy John Estes. These alone are enough to vault Bob Koester into the recording pantheon. Edit to say I see Paul Secor (no surprise) mentioned a couple of the recordings mentioned above.
  22. Has anyone tried green magic markers on the terminals of a stereo cartridge?
  23. Rhode Island Ed Rhodes John Gilmore
