  1. I highly recommend the Kanto family. I have the Kanto Yu2's. My ONLY problem with them is in order for them to get loud it needs to be at max volume. I have tried the Yu4's which are better (Bluetooth and louder) but there's a big price bump between the two models. I've only gotten the active models not the passive although I have heard they sound much better with a subwoofer. I like these so much because of the color options (which is something very different from just the average black desktop speaker). All models are more expensive than standard computer speakers though. https://www.amazon.com/Kanto-YU2-Powered-Desktop-Speakers/dp/B00GMPDAHM/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3BYX1YF1H8U8C&keywords=kanto%2Byu2&qid=1654430778&sprefix=%2Caps%2C51&sr=8-2&th=1
  2. I might be interested in Plex as well but I'm assuming it can't incorporate music purchased THROUGH Itunes (DRM) or am I wrong about that?
  3. I'm not quite following the technical problem here. I can also say as a Mac user with a large library (about 800GB) that Itunes/Music App is messed up. I don't know if this will help the original poster, but I keep my music library on the hard drive, backed up to two external drives via Time Machine. The problem I had is that if you have an Apple Music subscription, (in my experience) the app's default is to automatically sync your music to the cloud. In my case that was a disaster. As you know it takes a ton of time to upload anything that large. Our stuff (esp. things like alternate takes, etc.) get lost and confused by the Itunes upload. As a result, I lost a ton of stuff (including some Mosaic sets). I'm still tracking down my physical discs to try and find what I missed but it's a mess thanks to Apple Music.
  4. Completely agree... I might have to add this one to my queue.
  5. Okay, I caved. Don't know if I'll really like this set or if it will just be okay. Given the time and effort Mosaic has put into this and the fact that these recordings won't see the light of day after this set is gone... was enough for me. Worth a shot.
  6. Wasn't the Dizzy stuff on the Mosaic Phillips release? Am I wrong about that?
  7. Okay, I'm going into the way back machine. Years ago (apparently 2017), there was a crowd-sourced effort on a Weather Report documentary that included many pleasant perks. I like others contributed (I think it was $150 or something) and never got anything nor ever heard anything from the organizers. I know crowdfunding is buyer-beware and I know that money is long gone, but I wondered if you had any info on this debacle? The original link to the site is still active and below... Thanks. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/weather-report-s-incredible-jazz-journey#/updates/all
  8. Do you guess that the Black and White will sound better or worse (now I'm asking about the sonic experience)? Also I'm listening to Classic Capitol now and I thought it covered a broader (and earlier) spectrum of years than the Black and White set?
  9. Question for you guys... Which previous Mosaic set "sounds" kinda like this Black and White set? I don't mean sonically. I mean in terms of the music. I'm trying to decide whether to fork up the cash and need a reference point. Thanks.
  10. You'd be surprised how many of these artists DON'T show up on YouTube... I mean I think I know what Christian McBride is trying to do but the last few years there's quite a few bands/musicians who are really not well known.
  11. So the festival lineup was announced a few weeks ago. I know Christian McBride took over as artistic director from George Wein several years ago. Since then I tend not to know 75% of the bands that get booked for the festival. I'm inclined to go for one day to see Joe Lovano, Antonio Sanchez, Jack DeJohnette, and Maria Schneider but I never heard of most of these bands. I gave a listen to the Holly Bowling releases and that sounds interesting... Anybody got any thoughts about this lineup and the direction of the festival in general? https://www.newportjazz.org/lineup
  12. Is it my imagination or is the first release from him in a long time???
  13. Has anyone preordered this? It looks like it hasn't shipped yet, right? I'm waffling on this one.
  14. Yea I gave those a listen and I liked it more than I thought I would... This is presenting a dilemma.....
  15. I'm on the fence with this one as I'm not familiar with a lot of the artists. Is there any streaming/digital stuff of these musicians that would give me a taste of what will be on box set?
  16. Am I missing something? What's the point of this?
  17. For those of you interested... the Itunes store has it on preorder for a ridiculous $10.99.... Normally I'd like physical discs and the liner notes, but this is a can't miss price for me.
  18. I'm kinda with you... They started out fantastic.. and the last few iterations of the band and their live releases have been disappointing.
  19. I grabbed this as soon as I saw it. I've got a ton of McCoy but still miss him. Probably saw him perform live more than anybody else.... maybe 20 times... Don't like Louis Hayes but I can work with Avery Sharpe...
  20. How come no one has mentioned his Talking Jazz interviews? That's actually how I learned about him. Loved that series. Guess it's available below... https://talkingjazz.bandcamp.com
