Looks like 'Ping' was already off in my account settings. It does not appear when I preview a song in the iTunes store, but shows up when I click on a song to play in my main music folder. I knew I should not have upgraded the version of iTunes. They always add some fucked-up feature. Bertrand.

I just downloaded the latest version of iTunes because I could no longer get to the iTunes store with the old version. Now, when I click on a tune it has the word 'ping' appear. What the hell is this? It doesn't post my iTunes directory to the web or some such BS, does it? Bertrand.

The Duke gig was equally killer, but totally different. They did two short encores, the first of which was 'Joy Ryder' and the second a beautiful piece that looked mostly composed but that I did not know. First time I have seen two gigs in a row by this band. Can't wait for the next one! Bertrand.

I can't help on Friday since I will be at the Wayne gig at Duke U., but I will be there Saturday. It is Saturday that you are going, correct? Usually you can stay for both sets with one ticket. The Freddie Redd/Butch Warren quintet will have its first club date next week-end at the historic Bohemian Caverns in D.C., Friday 2/11 and Saturday 2/12. This is particularly significant for Butch since it was at the Caverns that he met Kenny Dorham, who brought him to NYC in late '59 - the rest is history. They will be accompanied by Brad Linde (ts, bars, arr), Brian Settles (ts) and Tony Martucci (d). I will be there on 2/12 (I'll be at Duke U. for the Wayne Shorter gig on 2/11).
