  1. Where would I store my roughly 1,800 CDs? Seriously, if i had a bit more bread, I would have bought the place just to have somewhere to crash on my frequent trips up to NYC. $150,000 is pretty cheap. I wouldn't want to live there every day, though. Bertrand.
  2. Where's the crapper?
  3. The Iridium web site shows that the gig this week-end is called Charisma, but they are playing the music from the Maupin-Harper era. I saw this last time - fabulous show. Bertrand.
  4. I'm confused - 7/4 lives in NJ and I live in D.C. How can I be he and he be me? Bertrand.
  5. I'll grab the printed Hot House when I get up there but I'll look through this a bit as time allows. I'll have to decide between Maria and Renee, but I've seen Maria a lot more recently than Renee so that may decide me. If any of you can make the university of the streets gig on Saturday, that would be awesome. Eddie Bert and Jimmy Wormworth are on the bill. Bertrand.
  6. Renee Rosnes sounds good! Do we know who she is playing with? Bertrand.
  7. Thanks. Who's filling in for Lovano at the Vanguard? Their website is down. Bertrand.
  8. Looks like I will be up in NYC this week-end (starting tomorrow) - last-minute plan. Any gigs of interest? A quick glance at the major clubs didn't show anything, but I will need to look again tomorrow morning. My friend Brad Linde is doing a benefit at University Of The Streets on Saturday, so I will try to go to that. Is Joe Chambers playing anywhere by some miracle? I know he lives in NC, but comes up to NYC still a fair amount. Thanks, Bertrand.
  9. There's a whole series of these Hitler things, including ones about how the videos were puled from youtube. Pretty creative guy with time on his hands. 'Who do I look like - Bobby McFerrin?' Love it. Bertrand.
  10. 7/12 with a lot of guessing! Bertrand.
  11. I was told last night that Bill Heid went back to China. Bertrand.
  12. I'm waiting for the 1961 Messengers date with Shorter and Dorham for several reasons: 1) I love Shorter's playing 2) I love Dorham's playing 3) I heard 'Moanin'' and 'Paper Moon' at LC and they're killing. 4) I have a reason to believe there is a third track which I hope will show up on Wolfgang's Vault. Bertrand.
  13. The $48 annual fee gets you $50 in free downloads plus discounts on all other downloads. If they are going to be putting up more quality stuff like this, it might be worth it. I wound up getting the MP3 rather than FLAC version of one of the Weather Report shows just because I thought I was too technologically stupid to move FLAC into iTunes. It doesn't sound so good, but I'm not sure that show sounds all that great anyway (the Music Inn one). The Cornell one, which was MP3 only, sounds just fine. Killer show, too bad it's incomplete. Bertrand.
  14. Maybe we should arrange an international trade Bertrand.
  15. Pretty well any computer shop that sells blank CD-R or DVD disks, I imagine. MG Well, I can get plastic ones there, but they don't have the paper. I'd like to find ones similar to the paper sleeves used (for example) in the mini-LP reissue of the Gryce/Byrd Jazzlab at Newport recording. Bertrand.
  16. Where can you get paper sleeves for CDs in case of broken teeth in a digipack? Bertrand.
  17. Wolfgang's vault shows the following set list for the Maynard Ferguson (excluding intros): Oleo Newport Tenderly Mark Of Jazz Three More Foxes The Library Of Congress site has: Unidentified composition based on tune by Charlie Parker Newport Tenderly The Mark Of Jazz Three More Foxes (Incomplete composition) Three More Foxes (Complete composition) I haven't had a chance to listen yet. Can anyone confirm that the first track is 'Oleo'? Is 'Oleo' based on a Bird tune? If so, which one? Thanks, Bertrand.
  18. Holy crap - they have a Maynard Ferguson set with Shorter and Zawinul! Bertrand.
  19. I knew that title seemed familiar. Since Ronnie Mathews is on both, we can assume it's his tune (the sample seems familiar but I'm too tired to listen to the Haynes CD). It seems the Haynes CD is from 4/10/63, so the live version actually precedes the studio version. Bertrand.
  20. Claude, Who is the composer of 'Dorian'? Did Kenny ever record this piece elsewhere? Thanks, Bertrand.
  21. Olsson's and Kemp Mill are long gone. Orpheus is almost gone. What is Sam K.? CD Depot in College Park has new and used. Bertrand.
  22. So if I were to buy the DVDs from them, is there a reasonably priced all-region player that I can get to be guaranteed that I can watch them in the U.S.? I'm about to buy a new DVD player, so I want to make sure I can get one that plays anything. Any model anyone recommends? Bertrand.
  23. Did he play any fusion confusion What tunes did he do; the last two times I saw him it was the same set list. Bertrand.
