I have 3 Victor Feldman Jasmine CDs. These are reissues of Tempo LPs. The CD quality is quite good.

Eddie Costa has short solos on tracks 6 and 8; plays vibes on tracks 1,3, and 5; and comps on other tracks. Probably not worth getting if you are only interested in Eddie Costa. I am an Eddie Costa fan- PM me for details.

I have the Blue Note Connoisseur CD of "Minor Move". Both "Star Eyes" and "The Way You Look Tonight" play perfectly with no distortions or clicks/pops. Lee Morgan on trumpet, in addition to great sax playing by Tina Brooks, is unbelievably good.

I have a Japanese-issued Bethlehem (BCP-6024) CD of "Winner's Circle" (COCY-78660). The notes list 8 tracks but my CD has 9. Can anyone tell me what the 9th track is, who plays on it, and where it comes from?

I am a Transition collector. I have acquired CDs of all the Transition jazz LPs released except for TRLP-8 (Pepper Adams/Curtis Fuller) and TRLP-18 (Jay Migliori). Both of these are shown as "unissued" on the Transition Records Discography (http://www.jazzdisco...ls/transitn.htm) referenced above. I have tried unsuccessfully to find out what happened to the sessions. Some of the songs were issued on the Transition Sampler TRLP-30 and on the Paul Chambers Mosaic Select #5 release. Bird's Eye View (TOCJ-5886), Byrd Blows On Beacon Hill (TOCJ-6832), and Watkins At Large (TOCJ-5885) have been released by the Japanese on separate CDs in addition to The Transition Sessions 2-CD set. I also suspect that the Walt Gifford/Johnny Windhurst LP titled "New Yorkers" is a Transition session not listed on the Transition discography. This LP was issued by Delmark Records who also released Byrd Jazz (First Flight- TRLP-5), and 2 Sun Ra sessions (TRLP-10 and -28)on LP and CD. Delmark seems to be the final repository of Transition tapes that did not end up with Blue Note. Any help for my Transition quest would be appreciated.

I had no idea that by posting my desire for an obscure 1951 John Coltrane/Dizzy Gillespie session LP would give rise to such a discussion. I have learned a lot about the "bootleg" issue thanks to the various responders. It seems to me that music performed over 60 years ago should be in the public domain. I repeat my request: does anyone out there have an Oberon or Broadcast Tributes LP of "Trane's First Ride" vol. 2 that they would be willing to sell me?

It is not a bootleg- it was issued on an Oberon label LP. I have volume 1, issued on the Oberon label. As I look further into "Trane's First Ride" vol 2 it looks like it was issued only on the Broadcast Tributes label # BT-009 LP. So I am looking to purchase the Broadcast Tributes label LP.

I am looking to buy this LP. I do not see how this violates rule #7.

John Coltrane on Oberon label LP # 5100. Could also be on Broadcast Tributes LP label # 0009. Title may be "Dizzy Gillespie Sextet". Consists of live broadcasts in NYC on Jan 13, 20 and Feb 3, 1951.

MJZEE- Bethlehem Stan Levey "This Time The Drum's On Me" was released by Avenue Jazz #R2-76683 in 2001. Commonly available on Amazon and eBay.
