  1. That's the evening gig. He is also doing a piano solo at 4pm I bet. Diehl is a new name to me
  2. Got this yesterday, I'm very impressed Sorey's playing a piano solo gig tomorrow which I hope to get to
  3. I listened to some this morning and liked it. Agree, it's not Jazz but does have Carlos Niño, Nate Mercereau and Surya Botofasina, all of whom I enjoy, playing on it so fits very easily into that west coast scene And it's already generated some real Jazz flute posts on X
  4. Yes, recently. They seem to give a fair enough price and are very pleasant to deal with. Otherwise I go to Flashback who seem to take most anything Jazz. I'm building up to my third clear out of the year. If I continue to buy it becomes the only option
  5. I do still have my 2112 LP somewhere, just couldn't sell it. Genesis also featured for me but not as prominently
  6. Taborn solo is one of the most concentratedly intense gigs I've seen. It must be nearly ten years ago and it still gives me shivers. He's in London soon so may have to repeat the experience
  7. Call the nice men from Atlantis Records, they always help me in this situation
  8. Enjoy. I loved Rush in the mid to late 70s, not sure enough to read a bio though. From the Guardian today https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2023/nov/16/rush-geddy-lee-reader-interview
  9. I chose the wrong day not to go to Kings X! I haven't seen any promotion of that BN shop but remember they did similar at a previous LJF. Off to see Charles tomorrow
  10. That's very tempting. I had about 8 of them but they disappeared...
  11. The addition of Fennesz is very interesting considering the rest of the line up is made up of players who must know each other pretty well. I have streamed it once and need to revisit
  12. When's the Café Oto takeover happening...? Would love to have seen both those gigs, Gorn and Sertso particularly are two players I'd rush to see
  13. Louis Moholo-Moholo's Five Blokes - Uplift The People [Ogun, 2018] Why I wasn't at this gig I have no idea. This is such heartfelt music.
  14. Now that does pique my interest
  15. Absolutely fabulous. Just played the album, which I rate very highly. All a bit looser and some extended solos, Hill and Gold especially impressive. I thought the orchestration worked very well, an obvious development of the strings writing on the album. Didn't overwhelm whilst not used sparingly. The whole came across as more suite-like. The quintet got to play without strings enough to prove their undoubted cohesiveness A couple of times Hill got lost amongst the strings but overall it was well balanced I find the album an oddly emotional listen and the concert was similarly, there's some great tunes in there. A triumph
  16. Jason Roebke Octet - Cinema Spiral Revisiting after too long. This generation of Chicago musicians have made and still make some incredibly good music
  17. Makaya McCraven Quintet w. London Contemporary Orchesrra
  18. In that case I might just try and hold off and see what that is or I may just fold
  19. Stop it now! 😄 I already have the real gems that are the NYAQ, Taylor/Oxley and Taylor/Dixon (disappointingly noisy pressing, even with a replacement)
  20. Count me intrigued. Triple Point don't get over here easily or cheaply so we'll have to see at $52 shipped
  21. Tomorrow, Morton Feldman's Violin and String Quartet (1985). UK premiere performed by Apartment House
  22. Andrzej Kurlyewicz Quintet - 10+8/Ten+Eight [Polskie Nagrania Muza, Poland 196, mono] One of my all time favourite album cover designs. Music's great too
  23. Komeda Quintet - Astigmatic [Polskie Nagrania Muza, Poland 1967]
  24. It's a lot better than good, that goes to the desert island. Track it down @HutchFan you'll like it, I'm pretty confident
  25. Great player who left some truly special recordings. Would love to have seen him live.
